Device Manager can't find L8042Kbd.sys on SetPoint Driver Disk

[ Edited ]

I have installed SetPoint 5 (G9) and connected an PS/2 keyboard (replacing an USB 'board) and now Hardware keeps asking for L8042Kbd.sys on the SetPoint Driver Disk, which ofcourse it can't find because it does not excists.

I have removed and clean re-installed SetPoint 5 twice now with the new PS/2 'board attached (SteelSeries 7G) but it keeps asking for the the SetPoint Driver Disk.

WORKAROUND:

Uninstall SetPoint 5 with Add/Remove

Clean/Safe Boot (per instructions Logitech, search forum)

Install SetPoint 4.7 (L8042Kbd.sys is now installed in system32\drivers, make backup of the file)

Reboot Normal

Uninstall SetPoint 4.7 (L8042Kbd.sys will not be deleted from system32\drivers if not paste backup)

Install SetPoint 5 again

Paste the L8042Kbd.sys to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logishrd\CDDRV2

Manual install PS/2 keyboard driver with Have Disk, point to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Logishrd\CDDRV2

Choose Standard (101/102) Keyboard / MS Natural PS/2 Keyboard

...

Or something like that, I did so many things at the end I'm not sure what I did, but it works now....Pleasehold yourself responsible if method doesn't work, it took me several hours to find the solution by accident. I'm tired now.
