Frame rate drop While using G9

I just bought my G9.

I unistalled an older version of Setpoint and installed setpoint 5 from the CD It works fine when I'm not playing any games.

But when I start a game the frame rate drops when I move the mouse.

When I only use the "WASD"" keys the frame rate is stable but when I move the mouse I get a in frame rate drop.

can anybody explain what I'm doing wrong or how I can solve this problem.

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

That happened to me a while ago.

It was caused by a part of xfire(xfire64.exe, I'm running XP x64).

But the guys at xfire fixed the problem

So try closing any other programs you got running, and see if it helps.

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

While it sounds very odd, some games etc get really messy with 1000hz mouse/usb report rate. What are you using atm?

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

I have a ATM Athlon X2 5200+ 2.7 Ghz

Evga Geforce 9600 GT

Windows XP x32 (SP3)

The problem occurs With COD 4 & 5 and Half-life 2

But with Far Cry 2 there are no problems

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

Do you use any framerate monitoring programs, or programs that draw any kind of overlay over the game(like xfire/fraps).

If so try disabling them, and use the ingame framerate monitor.

The consol commands are:

 /cg_drawfps 1

for cod4.

And

cl_showfps 1

for HL2.

I dount know any what else coud be wrong, sorry.

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

It could also be with how those games recognize USB devices: The G9 registers as a mouse and a keyboard with the OS (So the macros can have keystroke events).

That being said, I haven't specifically noticed this on my machine. Could you try uninstalling SetPoint 5 and see if this improves the situation?

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

I tried my G9 mouse on a other PC as well (with Half life 2 without Xfire or Fraps)

I had exactly the same problem.

If I switch to my old mouse (logitech cordless optical mouse) everything works fine.

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

I am curious to know that USB polling rate you are using though.

Re: Frame rate drop While using G9

I solved the problem.

I changed my USB polling rate and everting works fine now.

But I do have an other question.

I had to set the USB polling rate to 200 Hz. I think that is a bit low.

System specs

ATM Athlon X2 5200+ 2.7 Ghz

Evga Geforce 9600 GT

2 GB DDR2 (667Mhz)

Windows XP x32 (SP3)

when I play Half-life 2 and don't move the mouse I have a fram rate of +/-100 / 120  FPS

How is it possible that the Frame-rate drops below 20 FPS when i move the mouse (with 250-333-500 or 1000 Hz)???
