I've had my G400 for about 3 months now and something has been bothering me very much so I decided to ask here and see if I can fix the problem. The G400 software allows you to customize the extra 2 buttons on the side and the 2 on the top but for some reason only the top 2 works in games. Before I got the G400 I had the Mx518 and that mice would let me use the side buttons and treat them as button 4 and 5 but not the G400. In the button change section, the software recognizes the 2 top buttons as button 4 and button 5 instead of the 2 side buttons, which is how the Mx518 had it set. I do not want to use the profiles for the game because switching between those and my default profile is not something I want to do and not all game have profiles. Please help me with this because I use the side buttons in 90% of my games and it is difficult to not use them. Thank you.

Hi Priest666x,
What do you have the thumb buttons assigned to in LGS? I have a G400 and am able to configure all of the buttons to be anything. Could you possibly upload a screenshot of your mouse configuration in LGS?

I attached an img to show how I have it set and how I want it set.
I want the buttons to remain the same, except I want the program to recognize the side buttons as 4 and 5.

Ok and what happens when you select one of those buttons and choose Button fuctions: Back (Button 4) or Forward (Button 5)?

When I switch them the two top buttons are now treated as button four and five. At default button settings, the side buttons are 4&5 but when I change the side buttons to scroll, it stops becoming 4&5. The problem I see is that the foward and back button functions are locked to be treated as button 4&5 instead of the actual button themselves.
I've added an image to show what I mean by locked.

Ok I see what you're trying to do, but unfortunately it's a Windows feature that buttons 4 and 5 do the Forward and Back functions, it's not possible for them to have multiple uses.
