If you have viewpoint media player (its bundled with AIM, gives you buddy list features, or so they say) try removing it. I couldn't use my G5 for more then 3 mins without it disconnecting on me at least once... usually many times more. And to top that off the DPI down stopped working completely so it would always stay at the highest setting I had it capable of through setpoint. Logitech support wanted me to send it back to them for a discount on a new mouse after I tested it on my laptop (that also had AIM installed), I was out of warranty according to their production date and had long since lost my receipt... (50% off is nice and all but I wasn't going to buy another expensive paperweight). I finally found viewpoint (which should have been blocked by aim adhack) at the bottom of my add/remove list and removed it, and no sooner did my mouse stop resetting and my DPI down button started working. It has not done the disconnect/reconnect chime since although I've heard it so many times in the last few months I'm sure it'll haunt me, and it is now happy with all 5 DPI settings accessible (I had disabled these since I could only adjust up from the middle light).
edit: also if it d/c-ed while I was clicking it would hold the 'click' down and I could drag the window I was trying to change to but had no button response until the 'reload' completed
