I had the same issue, check out my thread and post comments if it works for you too so Logitech can fix this problem.

You mean this mouse?
Go to My Mouse>Mouse Game Settings and click on Advance Game Settings... in the lower right corner.
Change the Report Rate at the bottom to 125 and click OK>Apply>OK.

I'm experiencing the same issues with my semi-new G5 under Windows 7 32bit:
- Mouse intermittently shuts off (no lights, no movement, no laser underneath)
- Most of the time the mouse "comes back" within about 20 seconds (imagine this happening during work or in the middle of an online game)
- Sometimes I'm forced to unplug/replug the USB plug. I had to attach it to the port in the front of the PC for accessbility. Pitiful.
- The OS makes the sound of a device being unplugged (and replugged on its own or when I reconnect the cord)
I've tried:
- Using Windows XP 32bit on the same machine - everything works perfect!
- Swapping USB ports - no change
- Turning off various performance boosters and enhancers within BIOS - no change
- Updating/reinstalling latest drivers - no change
- Uninstalling AV/Firewall/Monitoring/etc software/packages - no change
The only connection I see here is Windows 7 compatibility and Logitech G5.
This is a widespread issue, search Google using various keywords to gather up additional posts: "logitech", "G5", "G7", "freezes", "stops working", "windows 7", "vista", etc
Logitech is a respectable company with loyal userbase (incluing myself.) Most of my mice that I've owned were from Logitech, including an MX518 that had a hardware failure but I ate the costs by buying this G5. I am currently forced to use a cheap Microsoft replacement whenever I wish to work under Windows 7 without interruption.
At this point I think it is Logitech's responsibility to work out any incompatibilities between their drivers/software and Windows 7, or at least provide a temporary fix and an explanation of some sort. The thing that worries me is that Logitech may think that this isn't a big issue since it plagues a user like myself. An average user like myself -- the type that do not whine and ask for a free replacement (or coupon) but quietly lose faith in the ability of the products a company offers and move on to its competitors.

Has there been a fix for this as my G5 sufferes the same problem and it only started a month or so back . USB disconnect sounds and it goes back to win7 basic mouse for a while then later on it will drop out and come back in setpoint settings . seems to be no rhyme or reason to it . tried going back to old setpoint / latest drivers , nothing works . Its bloody annoying in game when you freeze for 3 to 4 seconds
