G5 - "enhance pointer precision"

[ Edited ]
In Windows XP, I turn on "enhance pointer precision" in the mouse options. Now my Logitech G5 (blue) will not move in the lower-right direction when I move very slowly. I had no problems with this option enabled on my old Logitech MX610. I have Googled and found many people with the same problem, but they offered no solution.

Re: G5 - "enhance pointer precision"

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Some of our mice have tracking problems when the enhanced pointer precision is turned on in XP. As far as I know, the only solution is to turn of the enhanced pointer precision.

If I upgrade to Windows Vista, will I resolve this issue?

Hi:smileyhappy:,

The problem with Enhanced Pointer Precision affecting mouse tracking only occurs in Windows XP.

Re: G5 - "enhance pointer precision"

This can happen with all mice. See the MS article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895550

Re: G5 - "enhance pointer precision"

Enhance pointer precision is just the mouse acceleration. And it's designed for 100-125Hz mouses (PS/2 and standard USB), so G5 won't work with the default 500Hz rate. You need to change it to 125 or even better, just disable it. Mouse acceleration is bad unless you have a low dpi mouse.
