G-series Gaming Mice

I've been fighting with this problem for over a week now just thinking something weird was set somewhere and just too busy to sit down and figure out the problem. When I finally did, today, I am running into no answers. So i'm using a G5 mouse, love the thing, but at random times my cursor freezes up for a split second, and my sensitivity is dropped by like half. Only fix to reset it, minimize what i'm doing, pull up SetPoint, increase or decrease the sensitivity, push ok, reopen it, change it back to where i want it, hit ok again, then return to my game. Doesn't seem to happen in anything specific with any specific event triggering it either. I tried to do some research with google and the forums here but am not finding any recent threads. Everything I can find is 2-3 years old...I don't really trust the information in those threads will apply anymore

I suggest rolling back your SetPoint to a previous version.  setpoint630_x64.exe or setpoint630.exe

I've installed the linked driver and it still has the problem. I even turned off game detection and all that stuff.

Please try your G5 on a different system, if possible, this will determine if you are dealing with a hardware issue or not.

Yeah, I've also noted just recently that my sensitivity settings have just drop out too on my G5. Not only that, but some of my custom "Keystroke Assignment" keys stopped responding. I've only noticed it when playing on Steam, but I'm wondering if some recent Microsoft update screwed things up. My G5 has been working fine for quit a while now, but something changed.

My G5 randomly moves the orange light to the centre settting while playing SWTOR ,it may do it other times but this is when I notice this.

I installed setpoint and did some cofiguring from there but it still randomly changed.

I uninstalled setpoint and it still does it .

I phoned customer service to see if it was a firmware issue but the man said there has not been any updates ,its only started doing it in the last couple of weeks that I remember ,I was thinking that maybe the mouse is just broken thats why I'am here but I can't afford to replace it if it is not indeed broken .

If it is conflicting with another process could you instruct me on how to determine this before I change it to a razer mouse if logitech ones have issues that cant be fixed

I, too, have a G5 gaming mouse which randomly freezes or resets. It desplays symptoms similar to other's complaints in this forum. Is it my hardware? I have tried multiple USB ports, not all on the same controller.

It has gotten to the point that I plug it in at the front of the computer to make it easy to do a power-reset on it without restarting my system.

I use Windows 7 64-bit with the latest drivers, and have multiple freshly installed iterations of the OS to boot to. Same in all of them.

Logitech - is there an answer, or do I use someone else's products next time?

Lo and behold, I found that the braided cord (mouse tail?) was breaking where it inters the mouse.

This is a defective design, and Logitech knows it. They just don'w want to step up and have to replace them on all the G5 and similarly-equipped mice.

I cut off the decaying section and did some quick and dirty splicing of the connector to the remainder of cable.

I thought making a professional-grade splice, but realize I'll probably have to do this on a regular basis due to the poor flexibility of this cable. I just twisted the copper together and used scotch tape to insulate. I have no respect for this cable!

Because I like the mouse itself, I'm considering using a cable from another mouse, such as from one of the cheap-o disposables that rarely have cable failures.  If I can find one with a connector that fits and has the right pin-out, I'll use that. Otherwise, I'll do a good-quaility splice job to it.

Thanks for the info, rontaki.  My G5's sensitivity has been randomly dropping recently to about half speed at times.  After seeing your post, I messed around with the entry point of where the cable enters the mouse.  After about ten seconds of gently tugging and pushing on it, Windows made the "new device attached" sound and my sensitivity was back to normal.  It seems odd that Windows acted like I was plugging in a device when it was always plugged in and working (with about half sensitivity).  My cables entry point into the mouse looks damanged from wear and tear though as I can see the green, red, and white wires that are clearly bent and don't fit straight into the mouse.  So indeed, this is a poorly designed cable for this mouse.
