G500 left & right button = left click, all other buttons nonfunctional

System Specs: ASUS N50v

Windows 7 64 bit

Logitech G500 USB (bought new in January)

Setpoint 6.0

I walked into work today with my laptop and woke my computer up only to find that my left mouse button was acting like my right mouse button.  Being a long time Windows user I thought that this was just a temporary annoyance.  However, I have been unable to fix this despite my most ardent efforts for the past hour.  I've played with all the mouse settings in Control Panel, rebooted a half dozen times, uninstalled and reinstalled Setpoint software from the current 6.0 back to the 5.2 versions and vice versa (I was using the 64 bit versions).  I've tried using the mouse without drivers.  STILL -- both the left AND the right mouse button act like right mouse buttons and bring up the context menu.  Furthermore, I also noticed that none of the auxiliary buttons work at all.  The wheel works, but I cannot change the DPI settings via the mouse buttons (though the lights are lit), nor can I use the auxiliary buttons to go back or forward in a web browser.  According to Setpoint everything is "fine" and according to Windows, "this device is working properly."  As far as I can tell, nothing has changed since I put the computer to sleep last night and woke it up this morning.

I used the same Logitech mouse from 2000 through 2010 and just purchased this G500 in order to upgrade; I figured a decade was a good run for a mouse.  I'd hate to have to ditch Logitech and go elsewhere.

Re: G500 left & right button = left click, all other buttons nonfunctional

jcranshaw, did you get any resolution to this?

I just purchased a new G500 and I am having the exact same problems -- using either the left or right mouse buttons bring up the context menu you normally get with a single right-click, the DPI adjustment buttons don't appear to function, and the "forward" and "backward" buttons seem to send both signals.  It looks like using the left mouse button sends both the normal left-click and right-click as I can actually click/select things, but it always results in bringing up the context menu.

I initally had the SetPoint 6.0 installed from my MX Revoluion, but I removed it and installed the SetPoint 5.20 which came with the mouse.  I am running Windows 7 x64.  I also have a new G110 keyboard with its Key Profiler 3.03 installed.

This is obviously making the mouse useless, so I am looking for any ideas before I return it.

I'm having the same problem that you are. BOTH my windows 7 laptop and desktop do the same thing.  I'm going to try a different OS if I can bit it's really annoying.

Wow, a lot of other people are having the same issue.  Would this just call for an RMA?

Re: G500 left & right button = left click, all other buttons nonfunctional

Im not sure if this will help anyone.

I had the same problem on my laptop, my left and right clicks brought down the menu thingy.

I checked my settings, drivers, scanned for anti-viruses, nothing worked.

My problem was actually with my touchpad [which worked totally normal, go figure]

control pannel> mouse> click on your touchpad/ touchpad properties > button settings> at the bottom of the button settings theirs a box that says "swap left and right buttons on external usb mouse", uncheck the box.

Im not sure if your using a laptop/notebook...

Re: G500 left & right button = left click, all other buttons nonfunctional

I just got the g500 last weekend, worked fine for 3 days then after a reboot today no good. I usually always keep my computer on and sleep mode, this was the first time i actually rebooted since I got it and after the restart the **bleep** left button acts as right click. Kinda irritating. At home system is 7 x64 I tried here at work on xp 32 and the same problem with both systems, tried without the software, the with the software, then without it again but the problem persist. Whats the dealy???

I have this issue too, very frustrating, especially since I purchased this mouse to replace a g9 that failed far too early (5 months).
