My G500 intermittenly registers a double-click when I click the left button once. This cause unintentional opening of folders, and unwanted input in Photoshop etc.
I live in Chennai, India and the warranty center (Rashi Peripherals) is outright refusing to repair/replace it claiming that nothing is wrong with it after keeping the mouse for a whole MONTH. They claim to have tested it and used it on a desktop PC for a day. Obviously who ever tested it is a complete noob who knows nothing about quality mice and probably never even noticed when it double clicked.

Depending on the OS that you're using, it seems that this:

Would be the first applicable troubleshooting step.
Does the double-click only happen with certain programs?

No, it's not a software issue. It happens randomly maybe once in 20 clicks. If I click a folder, it may randomly open instead of being selected. If I'm selecting multiple files one by one, it may randomly open everything thats selected so far because of a double click. It randomly selects whole lines of text when clicking, meaning it registered a double click.

Hello TheTorch,
Have you tried adjusting the double click speed in the OS ? It sounds like it may be set a bit too sensitive .

It's not the double click speed. It happens in places where I've clearly clicked only once. Like in setup screens with a "Next >" button, it ends up clicking the the button on the current screen as well as the button on the next screen (which would appear in the same position as the previous button).

Clearly logitech has been blind about this issue, this double click is happening due to the lower quality from the micro-switch that they use.. they used to use the higher quality omron (sp?) but lately its been a no name micro-switch as far as i can tell with the G7 before.. I had the same issue with the G7 and so did lots of people. This is purely a hardware defect that logitech has been ignoring for a couple of years already.
I managed to fix this issue on my G7 years back by opening up another logitech mouse that still used the higher quality switch and soldered in on my G7.
You can do a search on old topics, assumed that logitech does not prune anything on the forum.. I just hope this does not happen to the higher end mice like the G9x or the G700 which still uses the no name/no quality micro-switch.

I've been using my old G5 for the past month and it works fine. It's several years old while the G500 was just months old. I've notice that the G5's buttons are affected by room temperature. It becomes unresponsive if the air conditioning is on, but it doesn't have a doubleclick problem.

I've decided to cut my loss, abandon Logitech altogether and get a Razer Tron or Mamba. It doesn't look like the service center is going to accept an RMA request from me unless Logitech themselves contacts them and forces them to.

Try to email logitech support and once the product has been replaced just sell it off.
