G-series Gaming Mice

I've had this mouse for a few months now and I'm starting to wonder if these buttons are broken.

I've downloaded the newest software off of logitechs site, and I've recently tried to map the 4 buttons on the side of the mouse in a few games (Space Marines & the Battlefield 3 beta) with no success.

In the software I have these 4 buttons set as a regular "generic button". When I tried to map certain functions in BF3 for example to button 4, in game it would tell me this button was already mapped, and when I confirmed to remap it, it comes up as the L CTRL button (or left shift), when I tried to map the two buttons on the top (i think 6 & 7) they don't respond at all. I've also tried to map these in Rift, and nothing happens.

Is this a logitech software issue, the games not fully supporting the buttons, or are the buttons broken?

Windows does not understand mouse buttons higher than 5.  In order for these buttons on your G700 to be used in games, they must be assigned to keyboard keystrokes first using the SetPoint software.  This is a Microsoft design decision for mice in Windows.

Hi sealcomm,

Microsoft API is limited to recognizing 5 mouse buttons. The software that comes with our mice, or Razer mice allow you to configure extra mouse buttons to something that can be recognized by Windows or other Programs (a keystroke for example).

My situation is quite circumstantial, but is there a way to remap logitech mouse buttons as a virtual gamepad?

I cannot send keystrokes because of the limitations placed on me in this situation, but I need to use the mouse buttons as hotkeys in certain programs.

Is there a way to do this?

Since I am not familiar with the 3d modeling application, I can not give you specifics, but I have provided a link to a guide for creating macros and setting up profiles for your G700.

i also have this issue with the mapping when in game it games g6 and g7 to leftctrl i change it to unassigned and it is still leftctrl  so its not bing unassigned also did keyboard kestroke and same thing and macro how do i change it from leftctrl. cant figure out how to remap the buttons. g4 and g5 work fine just got this mouse for the game tera online plz help

nvm I figured it out it was a profile issue I thought I had it  to switch when game loaded but i didn't so problem fixed
