Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

[ Edited ]

Thanks for the quick reply. On your advice removed the battery and clicked the left and right mouse button for 30 seconds. Button began to work a little better, but unfortunately the problem persists, the right mouse button does not work as before. Contacts and laser sensor mouse, I did not clean anything.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

[ Edited ]

I TOO AM ON MY 2nd G700.

I thought my other one was just getting old, so I replaced it now this one is doing it too.

Now I see its a huge issue all over the net and I'm more than a little PO'ed.

I even left rave reviews on tigerdirect when I bought my replacement, telling everyone how great it is.

I did the battery left/right click process. No change. I know this because I am using windows double click speed tester (the little folder opens and closes when you double click it) and boy you should see that little folder flap like crazy with just a single press+hold. I knew I wasnt going crazy.. what the heck is wrong with my $100 Mouse? I'm really really gonna want an answer to that question.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

I encountered this problem first time today, and I remember reading this few months ago so I knew exactly what was going on. The mouse is several months old and it's my second G700 (the first one lost middle click ability after 3 months).

It's still not frequent but when it happens, it's annoying. I guess I can only expect for the problem to worsen. I hold left click and it sometimes lets go. It's not a hardware issue because it does this in the next scenario: I click a hyperlink in any web browser (tried FF and IE) and drag it down to Jdownloader or any other app. What happens is that G700 lets go when the cursor passes over another hyperlink. This doesn't happen when I use touch pad, so it's mouse related.

And the moment I plugged in the cable, the problem disappeared. After removing the cable, everything seems ok. Until it happend again after a while. But not everytime like before. Now it seems random. That's my experience for now, I will be monitoring the situation.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

Hi ezombie, can you please try to do a capacitor drain on the mouse, this will remove any static charge built up inside:

  1. Unplug the mouse and remove the battery.
  2. Randomly click on all of the mouse buttons for 20 seconds.
  3. Reinsert the batteries and reconnect the mouse.

If you still experience the problem after that, please try to duplicate it on a second computer, that would confirm it as a hardware defect, in which case you can contact customer care in your region for a warranty replacement.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

[ Edited ]

Thank you for replying, CarterW. I did capacitor draining procedure today and the problem persists.

I have just managed to replicate the problem on another computer that runs XP 32bit unlike my laptop which runs Win 7 64bit. The behaviour is most noticable when you drag something (hyperlinks or files). At some point it just drops them. Totally randomly. I have another mouse B110 that doesn't do this.

As for contacting customer care, I think Logitech doesn't have a support center in Serbia. There are one or two service shops that repair Logitech products from all major sellers in here. And I doubt they would accept my claim because it's not easily checked or obvious.

Anyway, the last time I contacted them regarding my previous G700 they tried to repair it twice and the first time they returned the mouse with destroyed gliding pads (because they were removing them in order to locate the srew). And the second time they placed in a defective middle tact switch. I had to wait two months and send bunch of emails and complaints during this time.
They are some amateurs trying to fix products that they don't understand nor they have appropriate tools.

Is there an official Logitech support channel for Serbia? Someone that will understand what I'm talking about.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

Unfortunately no dedicated support for Serbia, however any nearby country, Hungary for example should be able to assist you, the available contact numbers are here: http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6861

Additionally you can do an email ticket and it will be routed automatically to the correct region, just be sure to state that you are from Serbia in the initial ticket.

I had a similar situation with the Logitech Wireless Mouse M705. I am from Ukraine, the nearest support was in Russia. I described my problem with the right mouse button, then offered me the support to change the mouse, but for this I had to go to another country, because the change could only be in Moscow or St. Petersburg in Russia.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

I just called tech support for this problem.

They were willing to replace the mouse, only If i sent my current one in first.

I asked what the average turn around time was.. he said 15 business days.. so 3 weeks.. are you kidding me.

I have a custom gaming rig, I dont have a spare mouse so.. because I have a defective LOGITECH product.. I can either go buy a replacement mouse to use while LOGITECH replaces the one I bought that doesnt work properly.. or be without my computer for 3 weeks.. not much of a choice.

Ive got a G19 Keyboard G700 mouse and G13 Pad. At this point I am seriously considering returning them all and switching over to Razor.

Poor Customer Service.
