G700 Click & Hold problem

Last year I bought a Wireless G700 Gaming Mouse and I was happy with it until this problem started like 2-3 months ago. I kept using it like this, hoping that it will fix itself one day but no, it still happens.

What happens is that when your holding the left or right mouse button, while in game or at desktop, it lets go of the holding process, resulting in annoying events.

For example im playing an MMO and trying to turn my character, clicking and holding right mouse button to turn the camera. Because it stops the holding process by itself randomly, my characters starts turning around by itself, regardless of my efforts to turn him the way I want.

Another incident happens when Im draging and dropping stuff on windows, while carrying some folder to somewhere, it again stops holding and drags the file to some other place where the mouse pointer was at the moment of let go incident.

On FPS games, when I use right click to look from ironsights of the weapon, it lets go, so I start firing point blank, which is frustrating.

I read some workarounds on this forum, like taking out the battery and clicking buttons for 15 seconds, which causes the internal capacitors to uncharge the reserve power. That is only a short term fix, it starts again after some time. There are many posts about this ive seen, but non of them gives us a permament solution and many people have the same problem and they state that this problem starts after 5th-6th month of the purchase, which I agree.

I have the latest drivers, Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Tried to use the mouse without batteries/cabled, fully charged/half charged wireless, different batteries, different PC/Mac... Nothing changed. I dont want to give away this mouse cause I love it and I got used to it and Ive been using Logitech accessories for my PC for years and im very disappointed... Is there any `home-made` solution to this???

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

I did just recently encounter this problem myself. The button sometimes releases and re-presses itself and sometimes registers clicks as double-clicks. Such behavior does result in rather annoying events sometimes.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

Hello,

I am wondering if any of you that are experiencing a click issue with your G700s have ever removed the battery and with the battery  removed alternately click left/right for 30 seconds. I did this with a Performance MX  mouse at home last night and it solved the problem immediately.

I have the same ANNOYING problem. Believe me, this random double clicking make me mad.
I tryed your solution, and no, doesn't work.

I have experience of this problem since I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 64-bit. I don't know if there is just a coincidence...

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

[ Edited ]

As I stated earlier; removing the battery and randomly clicking buttons for 30 seconds does help only for a limited time. After that is starts again. Its so frustrating especially on FPS and MMO games. There has to be a some kind of fix to this.. If there is someone who got the same mouse for the third time and still has the same issue, sorry Logitech but this error is on your end. Ive been using Logitech gaming accessories for years and ive paid a bunch for this mouse. It is really disappointing and shame on you guys to actually make such a mistake on a premium product... Even if I take it on technical support, what they're going to do is giving me a new mouse but im sure this problem will start again after sometime. Still here hoping for a fix from customer support and im open to any sort of workaround and suggestions. Thanks!

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

The same problem. First I bought a Logitech Wireless Mouse M705, a few months later the right mouse button no longer work correctly with long press, especially noticeable in games. Because of this, had to buy Logitech Wireless Gaming Mouse G700, thought gaming mouse, this certainly does not fail, unfortunately I was wrong after 3 months the same thing happenedI would like to hear from support Logitech, there is a solution to this problem.

I apologize for my English. I write through the Google translator.

Re: G700 Click & Hold problem

Hello EVG11,

Since the same issue has occurred while using 2 different mice after a short time, it leads me to believe that this may be an environmental problem. Please try removing the battery and with the battery removed, alternately click left/right for 30 seconds, replace the battery and test. This discharges built up static. Have you used canned compressed air to clean the contacts and the laser eye?  Your post translated perfectly, I hope mine does too!
