G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

Hello I just got my new G700 about 2 days ago and the G5, G6 buttons have stopped working. I have the latest Setpoint and the buttons do not work in any profile. I have unplugged the receiver and reconnected it, plug it into the USB line, reset my computer and Setpoint. I even took the battery out and put it back in to see if that reset the hardware on the mouse. Is this a software or hardware problem? I will see if I can get them to work, but I think I going to have to return this one and get a new one. Was working great up until this happened.

Re: G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

Yeah I read yours and it seems to be the same problem. The first time the buttons went out I simple flipped through the profiles with the button on the mouse and they started to work again. But they do not wok at all now no matter what I do. I am hoping it is just a software problem and that I do not have to RMA the mouse because it will take a least a week or more to get a replacement. After playing my games with this mouse its really hard to go back and use my older mice, got used to using this mouse within a hour or two. So I hope that it is just a software flaw and not an actual hardware problem.

Re: G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

I have the same issue. My G5&G6 buttons do not function. In the macro recorder I can click every key and it will register I pressed them, but when I hit either key nothing happens. This also happens if I assign keystrokes to the keys as well. All other keys function as intended except for those two.

I literally bought my mouse 2 days ago as a Logitech Special at PAX, some support on what is wrong would be nice so I don't have an expensive paperweight (because without those buttons what exactly is the point).

Re: G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

I've noticed similar but only with G4.  The thumb button responsiveness is definitely my main complaint about the mouse, they really should be more responsive.  The G4 button in particular is the default web browsing key for "Back" and it just does not register all the time even when you press it.  Its very frustrating but I just worked around it a bit by mapping G6 and G7 to the web browser forward and backward by mapping them to Alt+left arrow and Alt+right arrow because Forward and Backward don't work properly.

Its not enough of a deal-breaker for me to pursue a return refund but if the G6 and G7 buttons had the same problem I would certainly return the mouse.

Re: G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

Just tried out one of the fixes that the Logitech support sent me, it did not change anything and the buttons are still busted. Going to try the solution again just to make sure I did not do anything wrong, but I think now its more than likely a hardware problem. Still have plenty of time to return this one and get a new G700 sent to me, but I want to wait and see if it may still be a software related problem. Seems less likely now with all the other comments. Still using the G700 even though it lost 2 buttons. I went back and used my G9 and found that I got used to the buttons on the G700, so I hope that somebody at Logitech can figure out whats wrong.

I have the mice now 2 days and 3 of 13 buttons won't work ... 90€ for one mice and then something like that

This makes me doubt the quality of this product -.-

Venar - You probably ran into me if you made a purchase at PAX (One of my responsibilities was making sure the sales laptops were working OK, so I was near there a lot).

That being said, anyone experiencing this issue should contact their customer support team for assistance. We have a 3 year warranty on the G700, so if technical support determines that your issue is hardware, you're completely covered :smileyhappy:

Re: G700 G5/G6 buttons broken

I did contact customer support via email and followed the instructions they gave me. So today I finally was able to try out the "last ditch" idea that was sent to me via support before support would replace it. The idea was to try it on another computer that I had, which is a Vista 32 bit system laptop. Installed software and what do ya know the buttons started working again, on both computers! (Desktop was windows 7 64 bit.) So now I asked if it was a software problem that they know about. I'll update this thread after I use the mouse ( on both systems ) to see if they stop responding again. So happy to have the mouse working again!
