I have in front of me, a G700 that I purchased in December last year (2010). This mouse has performed perfectly with the exception of one issue which started to occur a couple of months ago.
When I hold down the left or right mouse buttons, the cursor will often (at seemingly random intervals) release the button and then press it again. Sometimes it does this so fast that it actually produces a double-click when I single click on something.
This is excurciatingly painful to deal with. I use drag and drop frequently and when this happens, the drag ends prematurely causing me to drop items in the wrong place. Or say I was dragging a window, the window will drag for a moment then the button "unclicks", releasing the Window; I'm still moving the mouse though so I end up moving the cursor outside the window by the time the mouse "re-clicks" causing the window to lose focus.
Originally I turned the polling rate down to 125 and that made the issue far less frequent. Recently, it has become just as frequent no matter what rate I select.
Interestingly, this issue doesnt occur if I use enormous pressure to click each button but as I'm sure you can imagine, that's not a convenient workaround. With that in mind though, I take it there is an issue with the buttons themselves. This mouse has been used very heavily during its lifetime but since it's only just over half a year old, I'm a little disappointed.
From the Logitech Support/Staff I would like answers to the following questions:
- Is this a known issue with the G700 or any other high-end Logitech mouse and if so, how frequent is it and under what conditions does it occur?
- Is this issue covered by warranty and if so does that mean a repair or a replacement?
- What steps does Logitech take during QA to ensure product durability?
From the general community:
- Have you or someone you know ever personally experienced this problem with a G700 or any other Logitech mouse and if so, can you please describe the issue along with Logitech's response (if applicable)?
Other on-topic comments are also welcome.
Cheers.

I have the exact same problem. I will use the warranty and contact Logitech. I will answer what will happen soon.
They only thing I wanna know is, is this a problem of the whole series? More and more people seem to have it though! So even with a new g700 could I have this problem still? Its extremely annoying! in my Software a double click makes a Default Value, and so i constantly am resetting values -.- when trying to alter it!
So I hope i get a new Model without the problem! I need a functioning mouse.
I am from germany and i had used Logitech mice since 1995! so one problem in 16 years is okay, but still i need a good mouse! its important - the model is not so important if all g700 have this problem..
regards.

I had this problem with a G9x and G700, neither mouse made it past the 6 month mark. I don't remember having the problem with the older Logitech models (my MX518 lasted YEARS), I've never bought a mouse from a different company, but I can't honestly recommend sticking with these products if you need a reliable mouse.

Confirmed, after 6months of use, getting double click problems. Though that I'm buying quality product after using mx510 for 7y without any problems.
G700 was choice for me, but already bugging out...
Logitech, check your software/hardware and fix it and get me working mice witch I paid for, Please, pretty.

I've had the same issue with THREE Logitech mice in the past 5 years. It just happened this week with my G700. It's extremely annoying. I too have had this mouse for 6 months. I'm not that heavy of a user, I don't click particularly hard, and don't play click intensive games as I have a bad wrist. This cannot be chalked up to "normal wear and tear". It's a 6 month $100 mouse that no longer functions properly. Logitech please get better switches. Six months of moderate use is not an acceptable lifespan for a product such as this.

My g700 mouse is bought end of Jan2011 and I started having this very same problem for several weeks. Please tell me what to do. The mouse has been used mainly for browsing and office work, and not very much for gaming.

Hello kaiokaio,
You could try using canned compressed air to dislodge any dust or debris that may be causing your issue , if this does not solve the problem please contact Logitech Customer care for your region.
