G700 Scroll Speed

I bought my G700 approx. a year ago and never had any real trouble with it, great mouse! But recently I installed setpoint 6.5 (errr) to be told I needed to wait for LGS 8.4. OKAY! Finally We'll get some goodies for our sweet sweet gaming mouse :smileyhappy: Reinstalled 6.32 for the time being. When LGS 8.4 was released I uninstalled everything cleanly, rebooted and blahblahblah before installing LGS 8.4. Sweet it works! Wait.. what the.. everytime I scroll one-click (ratchet mode it's called I think) it scrolls for more than 1 page. Oh well.. no options in LGS, I'll check the windows settings. It's set to 3 line, I guess I'll put it to 1 line. Aaaahh better but still, it scroll a quarter of page everytime I half-scroll-click. (Yup it moves even if it's not a full click, making it HARD to scroll easily). Question: Where am I supposed to change the scrolling speed? Probably via the windows settings right? Question 2: Why is my mouse suddenly scrolling even if I don't move the scroll by 1 full-scroll-click? I mean there's the free-wheel mode for if I want that. At least before it was way easier to scroll precisely. If I was able to lower it more I could understand. But even at 1 line per scroll it is waaaayyy to fast (half a screen scrolled with each 'click'). Thanks for your answer, and for the great mouse. You (Logitech) are a bit slow software-wise but your hardware makes for it.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

try blowing in the mouse.  I think the wheel uses an optical sensor and if there's dust or fuzz in there it might be messing up the readings.

I usually keep my mouse extremely clean but I re-blowed it to be sure, nop no difference. There's not alot of place to blow in this mouse, everything is tightly packed but I've done what I could and the scroll still feel hyper-sensitive. I usually open my mice to clean them completely but since I bought this 149$+ (CAD) I want to avoid that hehe. Any other tips on what I could try?

Oh sorry for the spam of messages, just wanted to make sure you understood. It all started by installed LGS 8.4, everything was fine before. The scroll mostly scrolled with the click (I understand the 'click' is just a mechanical device, but the scroll was more 'synchronized' with the click, at least with how the sensitivity was, it felt more synced.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

what operating system are you using?  I have a G700 at home, and I have an XP machine and a Windows 7 machine that I can test on.  I didn't notice any problem with my G700 wheel last night on XP, but I haven' tried using it with LGS 8.40 on a Windows 7 machine yet.

I'll probably be getting a Windows 8 machine in a few weeks and I may be able to do some testing there too.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

[ Edited ]

Currently using Windows 7 64b. I plugged it on an old WinXP SP3 and the scroll is still too fast. One scroll-click means half a page scrolled in any software (Tried in windows explorer, chrome, firefox and a couple of games).

One last thing. When using the 'Test Profile' function of LGS, everytime I scroll down or up by one 'click', it list 7 or 8 'wheel scroll down/up'. Dunno if it can be related or help debugging the problem somehow. What's the normal amount of 'wheen scroll' by click?

*Still testing on different software: on all the games/softwares I tested, the only place it seems to scroll correctly (not too fast) is in League of Legends, in the champion selection. The game uses Adobe Air for the interface, dunno if it's related. In skyrim it scrolls the inventory almost one screen/page at a time. Same for Civ5, it scrolls the entire list of buildings/units in one go. Tested windows explorer, steam, msn, trillian. Well... everything under windows is doing it. Java programs seems to be affected too, everytime i scroll one 'click', it scrolls down 7-8 items.

**Steam store seems to be scrolling one line at a time.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

You know what I'm in the same boat! Installed the latest LGS 8.4 last night on my Win7 64bit and my G700 scroll is not as smooth as it was before the scrolling is extremly sensitive and it scrolls at least half a page!

Must be a bug or a feature that was messed up in LGS 8.4. I remember how incredibly smooth and precise it felt to scroll in Chrome browser. THat's not the case.

I even tried to disable and enable back the Logitech Smooth Scroll feature in Chrome. Regardless, same problem.

I'm reading now and people are also having problem after installing LGS 8.4 on the scroll speeds. I'm thinking I tinker in Control Panel > mouse options to see if I can change the speed of scrolling.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

I checked when I got home and my G700 scroll wheel seems to be working fine on XP 64-bit.  it also seems to work fine on Win7 64-bit.

I've never used the "Flow Scroll" software for smooth scrolling, I don't know if that might be related but it's my understanding that LGS doesn't have that feature, whatever it is.

I'm using Chrome to view and post on this forum, and when I scroll all the way to the top of the page, then roll the wheel down one click, the amount of scroll causes the "Logitech Forums : Mice and Pointers : G-series Gaming Mice : Re: G700 Scroll Speed" line to be positioned at the top of the window.  that's maybe 3/4" on my screen, or about 1/8 of the window.  this is exactly the same amount of scroll I get from one 'click' of the wheel on my Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

The weird thing is that the scroll speed is changed within the hardware of the mouse... You can plug it into a brand new computer and it will STILL retain that insanely fast scroll.  This is unacceptable and pretty much renders the mouse scroll useless!  Logitech please fix it and fix it fast!

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

I just built my new PC, and after installing the Logitech Gaming Software, I'm having the exact same issue.

This is UNACCEPTABLE. When scrolling websites, It scrolls 1 and 1/2 to 2 times the window size. I've gone to using the scroll bar on the side of the browser because the mouse wheel scrolling is uncontrollable. Even with the click wheel on.

I need a solution to this ASAP. If not, guess Razr will start getting my money from here on out.

Re: G700 Scroll Speed

Flick the mouse on and off a few times.  Doing it quickly fixes it for me, and it might not work the first time.  It's happened twice, but only when I've been messing around with drivers - should be stable after it's fixed.  I don't know why it works, but it does.
