G700 USB cable for wired mode...

Did Logitech do any focus group testing with the G700 before they finalized it?  Who's idea was it to include such a thick USB cable to use for the wired mode?

I hope Logitech redesigns this cable.  Maybe get a thinner, braided cable like the one on the G9x.

I completely agree.  The cable is very stiff.  Even with it being anchored 2 feet back on the desk, if I move the mouse up to the edge of the pad and let go, the cable makes it come down some. To thick.

Logitech, please redesign the cable.

I gotta agree on that.

The cable is very thick, yesterday i ran out of battery while kicking some arse in TF so naturally I pluged the USB cable for a recharge, suffice to say I stopped kicking arse and instead my arse was being kicked.

Well 2late for that now, I bought the mouse and now I can only hope that Logitech will offer like a spare USB cable in their stores, one that isn't as thick.

I've been listen to this problem from so many people.

Is that possible, could anyone takes a picture of it compares to razer or steelseries mouse cable?

Helping guys like me live in the part of the world, still waiting for it probably available few weeks later.

I'm really appreciated :smileyvery-happy:

I've no real problem with the cable so far but just fyi, the connector is a standard (I'm not joking!) mini usb connector so if you have a mini usb cable that you prefer you can give it a go.

Granted it won't be quite as well supported but the mini usb itself is pretty sturdy. Always add tape if you are really worried but worst case your wire will fall out so...

[ Edited ]

Yeah the cable for the G700 really does suck. It's way too thick and heavy and really is the only major down point of this otherwise excellent mouse. It does boggle my mind to how they thought it would be a good idea to package that with a high performance gaming mouse. Oh well every company makes mistakes I guess.

Are logitech planning to make a lighter version of the cable available?

Has anyone managed to find an alternative micro (its a micro not a mini!) USB cable (preferably braided) that could be used? I managed to plug in one used by my Sony-Ericsson X10 phone but its not much better. Also the logitech cable has a supporting end piece that plugs into the mouse. A cable without this might not stay in too well.

I had a Google search but can't really find anything that would be an improvement over the cable logitech have supplied.

I guess the other option is to strip the cable and braid it ourselves :smileyhappy:

Why buy a wireless mouse if you use the wire? I only use the wire to charge every night.

Re: G700 USB cable for wired mode...

@Argwen.  I use it wireless too, but don't be thick skulled.  The G700 has a much better grip and quality button placement/responsiveness than any other mouse I've used, and it has the option to be a fully (data+power) wired mouse.

I can understand why someone (maybe a gamer) would want to use it wired.  Plus, batteries can/will run down at inconvenient times.

Here's a pretty cool looking cable router / USB hub for wired gaming mice. >> Roccat Apuri << .  That might solve a lot of wired mouse users' cabling issues.  I don't think the standard USB cable on the G700 is as awful as others seem to believe.  I also own the G500 (which has a thin braided cable); bottom line any wired mouse has a cable, and a cable is going to get in the way occasionally.

I haven't tried it myself.  Like I said I use the G700 wirelessly.

This cable looks promising, Found this one on Amazon..?

*Reply for amprantino: Yes it will  work wired or wirelessly, it comes with both, but you don't have to plug both in...
