I can now confirm that the SetPoint 6.20.64 DOES!!! fix the 'sticky' movements problem. I just installed the new software and the movements are as smooth in Wireless mode as in the Wired mode.

Ugh, glad I happened to come by here tonight, I'll go try it. I never really noticed the problem until last night when I was trying to make small changes in an app. And of course the installed setpoint says there's no updates.

I installed setpoint 6.20 from this link http://www.logitech.com/en-ca/441/7244?softwareid=
I just realized after reading my post from yesterday that I may not have described my problem accurately. In my case my mouse doesn't seem to be sticking, but I have not been able to get the pointer speed fast enough. I have tried DPI settings up to 5000 and the pointer speed seems to be capped at a lower setting. It was irritating because I have a large monitor and it takes a lot of movement to get the pointer from one end of the monitor to the other. The updated software doesnt fix this.
I noticed a weird thing when messing with setpoint. Everytime I make a dpi change in setpoint it checks a box called mouse smoothing (it's directly under the pointer speed control) in the Win7 mouse control.
I enabled let OS control pointer speed in setpoint and unchecked the mouse smoothing box. after I did this i was able to adjust the pointer speed using the Win7 pointer speed control.
Does anyone know why I would be unable to adjust pointer speed using the setpoint software?
Would installing the 32 bit drivers make any difference. (my system in 64b win7) ?
I read a post that said setpoint must be run as administrator. I installed it as adminstrator. Does this imply that when it loads at start up that runs as admin or do i have to adjust something in the exe properties to get it to run as admin?
If I have to perform an addition step, could someone exactly define how to do it? thx

No, 32-bit drivers wouldn't work at all. x64 OS -> always only 64bit drivers.
I would try to uninstall and reinstall as an first option...

After having tested the update when it first came out, it was indeed better, but definitely not completely fixed. In fact, I went back to using my other mice (G5 and Mamba). I also received a G500 today which was on sale that I wanted to try out. Oddly enough, I'm noticing the same exact issue with the G500 (even though it is wired). The tests I have been doing are as follows:
Open up notepad, type a bunch of random letters at font 10. Now move from in between letters (where you would put your cursor if you wanted to delete a letter), one by one, and also slowly across the letters. I tried this with the G5, Mamba, G500. The G5 and Mamba, move smoothly across the letters, and are able to stop in between each letter without trouble. The G500 seems to get "stuck", as described before at random times, moving both left and right.
Another simple test is using your "notification" bar in windows. Trying to move from one icon to the icon next to it, you will sometimes notice the mouse movement sticking.
All three mice were running at 2000 DPI, windows sensitivity was in the middle.
The sticking definitely is happening far less than it did when I first posted about this back in the end of August, but it still exists, even after the update.
I also tried updating to the latest Setpoint 6.2, this did not have any effect. At this point I'm wondering if it has to do with the laser, since the G500 and G700 both share the same laser. The updates, AFAIK, have been to Setpoint, and not actual firmware updates. Maybe a firmware update is what is needed to fix this.
I'm curious if anyone else has a G500, or can get their hands on one and see if they notice it as well.

@Undread
I have a G500. Unfortunately I do not have a G700 to compare it to, as I've been watching this issue and waiting for it to be resolved before deciding on a purchase. However, I did have a MX1100, which had the same issue with small precision movements as (it sounds like) the G700 has. I can tell you that my G500 is not even as close to how bad the MX1100 was.
The G500 passed your notepad test at 800 DPI, but it was more difficult at 2000 DPI. This is sort of expected though. If I wasn't careful enough at either setting, I would overshoot from time to time. The mouse never really felt like it was sticking in 800 DPI. I have to admit, it did feel like it was sticking at 2000 DPI at first, but this had everything to do with the fact that my hand/mouse on my desk was trying to move minute amounts, and overcoming the initial friction of the mouse/hand versus desk caused my hand to overshoot by a millimeter. I noted that any time the cursor seemed to be sticking, it was actually my hand. When I tried more carefully, the tracking was fine. It had nothing to do with the sensor.
It's certainly possible that some mice operate a little smoother than this, but the G500 (or at least my G500) doesn't really seem to have a significant tracking problem.
If I had tried this test with my crappy wireless MX1100, it would have failed miserably. I think it almost certainly has something to do with Logitech's newer wireless system since the G700 only has this problem in wireless mode, and the MX1100 has the same problem. The MX1000, predecessor to the 1100, did not have this problem, and I believe it used a different wireless system.

I got this mouse from Future Shop with a gift purchase receipt or something so I can open this box up and try this mouse and if I don't like I can return it. Still with that said I am not all that anxious to do so with all the horrible problems people mention on your site and on other sites. I love the button layout and the feel of the mouse but does this thing even work ? Should I just not bother and return it to Future Shop ? Users please chime in here. I got this thing to play WOW and have most of my spells on mouse buttons. I wanted at least 7 buttons without having to hit shift or alt or anything. Is this thing useable or do people have other recommendations ?

@DeViLzzz Definitely give the G700 a try. I have tried Razer deathadder & Lachesis. I have tried the Mionix Naos 5000 also the logitech G9X and Steelseries Kinzu. After all those mice the G700 is my favorite by far (even though I did like some of those mice). I have not had small movement problems and wireless performance is fantastic for me.
The battery is not as bad as others suggest but the indicator is indeed way off. I can run 24 hrs after it says that remaining battery is critical.
One thing that I did need to do is have the wireless receiver on the same level as my mouse for it to be at its best.
Overall I think you should try it and unless you get a lemon I think you'll be very pleased.

I'm experiencing the same thing and I'm on setpoint 6.20.5! Is there a fix to this? I'm ready to go with Saitek or Microsoft if I don't have a fix in 7 days. Sorry but this is frustrating. My free usb mouse from a vendor tracks better at slow movement. Go figure. Is there a fix out for this yet?
