G9x LED issue

I have a couple of G9x gaming mice that I use at different locations.  I noticed something while playing around with the settings for one of them.  If I set the LED color to the lime green spectrum the leds light in two different colors.  One segment is green the others are orange or something like that.  Any ideas?

Re: G9x LED issue

Yes. It's a array of a R, G, and B LEDs in there. At some colors and brightnesses, the light pipes (Clear plastic that moves the light from the PCB to the body of the mouse) wont be able to perfectly mix the colors.

If that is the case, then why does it work fine on my other G9x but not on this one?  Why offer colors that can't be properly displayed by the device?

My problem is not that the colors are not mixing properly, it's that they aren't mixing at all.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Eric

Re: G9x LED issue

If one lightpipe is just micrometers off from a perfect alignment, this can result in slight variances of colors. That might be the case in your mouse. If it's bothersome to you, then I'm sure support could find a way to help you.

There's no real singular way to fix this in a unit as this issue is just from how the plastic was molded. And yeah, the colors are mixing: Each DPI indicator is a tri-color LED, kinda like a singular pixel on your screen. If the lightpipe is't making flat contact with the LED, the one of the 3 LEDs colors wont mix as well and could be off color. Though, if it doesn't make you happy, I'd contact the support team and they should be able to find a solution for you :smileyhappy:
