Inaccurate aiming (skipping pixels) in BF3 (Logitech G700)

I have already contacted support about this issue, but I though maybe the community knows some answers.

I am wondering why, when zoomed in, the mouse is terribly inaccurate. It's skipping like 5 pixels at a time instead of one. Making it real hard to get those headshots. I have the latest Setpoint drivers from Logitech and in Windows I don't have this problem. Just in Battlefield 3.
I have tried changing the Setpoint setting from OS controlled acceleration to use Logitech drivers, to no avail.

Config:
i7 2600K
GTX580
8GB DDR3

How can I troubleshoot this problem?

I have also reported this problem at the Battlefield Battlelog Forums: http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654624710585705/last/#post_283265462471078... where users have said:
"same problem with G5. In beta was perfect..."
"I have a similar problem when aiming."

Thanks in advance,

Xavier K.

Re: Inaccurate aiming (skipping pixels) in BF3 (Logitech G700)

Holy smokes, I've been plagued with the choppiness of the G700 in the retail of Battlefield 3 as well, and I was going crazy thinking it was spyware or something on my machine. It was fine in beta, but now it's not. I came in to the forums to double check to see if anyone else is having issues, before I RMA'd it thinking it was a bad mouse.

Good thing I came in here to check before doing so.

I plugged in a standard garbage mouse, and it works perfect. When I move my hand over to the G700, and start moving around, it's choppy. So it HAS to be the mouse. I have mine set to poll 1000 as well, and have tried numerous settings in game to no avail.

Logitech, please get with DICE and find a solution to this problem! Thanks!

Hey wsalomon. That's understandable, I was also thinking "what the [edited] when I noticed this. I'm glad I posted to the Battlelog Forums and the Logitech Forums because it shows that I am not the only one with this problem. I'm not going to RMA this mouse, yet. I think it's a software error since it's working fine in other games and Windows, and even the BF3 loading screens (the cursor) is fine. My polling rate is set to 1000, not that this should have anything to do with the problem.

Frankly I am kind of [edited] off. This is a pretty expensive mouse and it's not working as it should. That your standard garbage mouse works fine just says it all. Maybe DICE is screwing with Logitech? DICE recently gave Razer permission to make stuff with their brand :smileywink: But conspiracy theories aside, Logitech: contact DICE/EA and get this problem fixed ASAP svp.

It's actually not just a Logitech issue.  The problem is happening across the board with all mouses.  They even noted that its being worked on in the BF3 blog.

Do you have a link to that blog? I couldn't find it. And is there an ETA for the fix?
Also, there seem to be users that say it's not all mice :smileywink: In any case: I am experiencing this problem with my Logitech G700 so I go to Logitech for support. I don't care how they fix it, with or without DICE, but they should fix it, since there are mice that DO work. I've paid a lot of money for this thing so I expect it to work perfectly.

EDIT: I've just talked to EA tech support who said "Vikas: Okay I will forward this to my superiors." No further information.

dmasterr and wsalomon perhaps you could also contact Logitech / EA Support, since I haven't heard back from either of them and am still experiencing this issue. I expected more from Logitech.

I haven't received a response to my ticket from 30/10/2011 yet. Very disappointing,  [Incident: 111031-000065] with Dutch support. Should I also try the international support or are you going to fix the problem?

EDIT: Anyone who wants to help should vote for this problem at the official BF3 GetSatisfaction:

Re: Inaccurate aiming (skipping pixels) in BF3 (Logitech G700)

I fixed this problem for me just by lowering the ingame mouse sensitivity from 50% to 25%.

The default setting seemed way too fast for me, the DPI was just set to 800 but the mouse was fast like 2000 ingame. To reach this speed, it have to skip some pixels so it causes the inaccurate aiming.

I compared the mouse speed to other games and lowered the ingame sensitivity of BF3 so far that I had the same speed like I have in other games, which was at ~25%.

Now the aiming is absolutely smooth. By raising the DPI it's still smooth, you just shouldn't set the ingame sensitivity to a value above 25-30%.

I can confirm that mh0001's solution doesn't work.
EDIT: After careful inspection with a variety of scopes I can still confidently state that this suggestion has not solved the problem. It may have masked it somewhat, only skipping 3 instead of 4 pixels now, for example. But it shouldn't be skipping at all. Meanwhile this forum topic is being ignored by Logitech Support.

Yes, Logitech drivers have such problems with BF3 - I can confirm it. It's great that people writes to Logitech's support here and DICE about the existing problems. I thought I was the only with that problem like 800 dpi feels like 2000 and pixel skipping too. Hope it will be fixed soon cause my friend with Razer Mamba doesn't have such problems (like pixel skipping or dpi increasing) and he was amazed hearing that I had such problem but I've see how his gameplay is smooth and he's happy customer!

So plz Logitech do not let us down and fix the problem as soon as possible in mouse driver as adding BF3 profile and Logitech applet of showing ping, KD, WL, stats on LED screens of G-series keyboards

and finally plz add Logitech G9x to LGS too! it would be very comfortable

I've amde a ticket already in my Logitech support section. See if it helps ^^ us guys with all our existing problems! I will try to keep u updated in this thread how the things will go on further with our case! :smileywink:
