Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

Just something I am wondering : do all people complaining here have an ATI Radeon or chipset with ATI Catalyst installed, as I have ? Because I came across this and find it a very good start to investigate : http://www.smartdongle.com/remove-amd-usb-filter-driver-ati-catalyst-install-manager

Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

My g400 would disconnect and reconnect ,  I thought it was a driver issue so uninstalled, reinstalled the game panel software switched ports and still the same problem. finally I realized it was a wiring problem where the wire goes into the mouse,

I turned it over and would move the cable and the optical llight would go on an off and i  would hear the diconnecting sound.

Called logitech and have a new 400 on the way and using my 518 till then..

It took me a bit to figure this out and was wondering why my gaming was so horrible lol

Hopefully ill get more than 4 months out of the new one

Thanks Logitech for the prompt  Service

Your support  and warranty are Awesome

Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

[ Edited ]

Having this same issue this very moment with my NEW G400 mouse, the exact one they sent me to replace my old MX518 as it was doing the same thing. I am getting VERY peeved about this, and am about to either go buy a Razr or some other company that I know doesn't have driver or firmware issues. I have windows 7 64 bit, it happens in game, in a web browser on the desktop, doesn't matter, every application it happens. I have turned off sleep for USB's, uninstalled drivers and reinstalled, uninstalled drivers and the entire device and reinstalled. Tried it on a different computer, still does it after a while. I am not new to computers whatsoever, considering that is what I am getting my associates and bachelors in, and have been building them for the past 7+ years, I have my dumb moments, but this is ridiculous when I encounter this big of an issue with something that should work right out of the box.

I gotta say, as a gamer, I EXPECT at least usability out of a gaming mouse, I can go buy a 5 dollar gateway mouse that came with a default desktop that is better than this thing right now, at least it works! I really don't care about any extra buttons if I can't even get panning and scrolling with the optics to work......

This is apparently a rampant problem and your inability to come up with a solution is not only frustrating, it is downright sloppy in the way of customer service, if you cannot support all of your products you currently sell on the market equally, you have overextended yourself and need to focus on quality rather than quantity before you try and expand.....

The only solution I have heard that works is reformatting, which in my mind, is not a solution to fix such a basic piece of hardware, I shouldn't have to go wipe everything I have on my hard drive to make your product work, as that is an inconvenience to me, and a waste of my time.

Extremely Frustrated,

Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

The disconnecting/reconnecting problem is usually a hardware related issue. To confirm this you can try to wiggle the cable and see if that will cause the problem, or test it on a second machine.

The solution for this would be to contact support for a warranty replacement, the MX518 and G400 have a 3 year warranty.

Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

Found this thread after posting to ANOTHER thread about connectivity problems with my new G400.  I wiggled the wire at the top of the mouse, and sure enough, this caused my computer to make the "new hardware connected/connection lost" sound I've been getting when using the mouse.  It also made the optical sensor go on and off.

I am incredulous at this kind of issue coming from Logitech.  I have always had a lot of respect for your products, and I'm very accustomed to the feel of your mice as I've used Logitech gaming mice for a long, long time.  I have a replacement coming from where I purchased the G400, but I now have no confidence that it will work properly.

Why has there not been a recall of this mouse, and a fix for this issue?

Re: Logitech g400 USB problem

My g400 just started doing this last week after almost 6 months of no issues. Hence I would believe the frayed wire hypothesis. Unforunately, I did not keep my receipt so I am likely SOL for that "3-year warranty". Not sure I'll buy another logitec mouse for a few years with this kind of quality. I also have the same issue with their headsets - they last about 3 months before the wires fray and start dropping sound. I believe this is a cable quality issue across all of their wired products. I suppose I may just boycott logitec all-together until they resolve the issue and get current inventory off the shelves. Such a sad story to have great products tanked by a lousy cable.
