Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

I am another unfortunate G7 owner who share the same fate as many others who created and discussed in great length about the freezing problem of G7 under the same subject name. The latest post was posted on last year (less than a month ago) and was already 'archived'. I believed the problem is not solved, may any of you who've discussed in that board tells me if there's any useful solution? As I observed, there're still a lot topic talked about the freezing problem.

Many thanks.

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

I've had the same problem as everyone. I bought the mouse 3 years ago, and it worked perfectly for 2.5 years. It started showing the freezing symptoms like everyone else and I thought it was because of my winxp is breaking down. I formatted and the problem still exist.

I've tried all sorts of way to fix it, but no luck. Put it on other computer, same problem. I read people's response to that Archive thread, and tried what ppl suggested, but still no luck.

However, my problem is fixed now.

I believe everyone is case by case.

What I did was, I disconnected the USB pen from the charger, and simply plug it to my G15 keyboard's USB port.

It worked fine. No more freeze or disconnect.

It'll work if you plug into other USB port.

For me, my problem is the hardware failure of the G7 Charger's USB port.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

Indeed the problem is still here and no apparent solution.

I've gotten a G7 about 2 months ago and it was doing the freezing (even disconnecting, but only when Setpoint is installed). I do not have an easy access to another computer, but when I've tried it on another computer the symptoms were there as well. Long story short, I've gotten a replacement from Logitech (kudos to them), but I'm still having the same problem.

On one hand it just seems too unlikely that the second G7 I got is also defective. I will try to get access to another computer, but I am having a feeling that it is not the mouse that is the problem - maybe some Windows and certain hardware combination that is giving problem, maybe some wireless router configuration that interferes with the mouse (even though I have tried many different settings on mine).

What I want to know is, has anyone who have had serious mouse freeze problems gotten a replacement and the problem was solved? (without changing anything else on their computer)

I appreciate the above response and I am glad that essentially switching a USB port solved the problem for you. Would be great to hear some more success stories or more information from Logitech on the successful fix feedback they have received.

I just honestly can't imagine Logitech tech department cannot recreate the freezing issues in their labs and figure out what the cause(s) of the problem is.

PS I REALLY want this mouse to work, in theory this is by far the best wireless mouse out there.

Has all the G7 owner gave up on or the issue has been solved? If so, please let me know, thanks.

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

Either people's receivers go bad, the user's environment suffers a massive influx of RF pollution, or some variation of the two. If your G7 mouse is freezing, it's recommended to contact customer support so we can run through all the troubleshooting steps with you.

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

I'I've tryed everything to fix the mouse. The freezing occurs because the mouse resetes its self.Still havenn;t found the issue, but my gues is that it's power suply noise injected int the mouse when you move it on the mouse pad.Due to vibration and battery contact oxidation the contact surface becomes resistive and prone to interrupts when vibration from mouse movement is created. My temporary fix was to clean the battery contacts. That only helped for about 3 months of trouble free. Now i scrached the battery contacts to expose fresh metal. It seems it's working again. If power suply is the issue i would suggest to connect a small capacitor inside the mouse connected to the power supply wires. This way you eliminate this noise completely.

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

It's very strange... but I too was just able to fix mine by moving it to one of the USB slots on my G15 Keyboard. However, plugging it into a different slot on my computer DID NOT work!

While plugged into the keyboard, it's about 4" from the mouse, however it does not seem to be a range issue, as even when I move the charger next to the mouse the problem persists.

The only logical reasoning I can see behind why this would fix it is that the G15 keyboard has USB 1.1 ports, whereas almost all USB ports today are 2.0.

SO IF YOU HAVE A USB 1.X PORT AVAILABLE, TRY THAT!

Mine has been working for about 10 minutes now without a single freeze, but was frozen for 90% of usage time when plugged into the charger.

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

My G7 has just started having this problem.  Is there any easy way to get a replacement, given how widespread this issue seems to be?

Re: Logitech mouse G7 freezes REVIVE

Unless you still keep your proof of purchase then maybe you can get replacement.
