Re: Mac support for G700 mouse

I got a G700 a few weeks ago.  Also surprised at no Mac support. I had been using a MX1000 for its extra buttons.

I read the replies on this thread and it was helpful.  I now have full use of the G700 for my Mac Pro.  I only wanted the extra buttons for productivity, not gaming, so your experience may vary.

I have a partition with Win 7 so I got the Logitech Setpoint software and set about testing.

Mouse movements:  I found that setting the "dpi" to one choice of 1000dpi in x and y gave me the response I needed and let me adjust the speed using the Mac system preferences for the mouse.

I put the report rate to 125Hz as suggested by Logitech in this thread.

I wanted to use some of the buttons for back, copy, past, delete, page up, page down.

I found that using the "keystroke" choice for that button allowed me to choose delete or backspace for that button.  Same for page up/down and for any function key I wanted to use.  The tilting wheel's side motion took a bit of research, but its simply using the keystroke for the right arrow/left arrow.

Copy/paste/back were harder.  I had to make a macro.  Not really hard and I found that using the command key on my Mac keyboard translated correctly to my Mac.  I just hit the record button, pushed the command key and held it down, then pushed the "c","v" or "[" key, then let up on the "c" etc. key, then let up on the command key.  Then stopped the recording by clicking the record button again. The macro recorded four actions: command key down, letter key down, letter key up and command key up.

Since I wouldn't be using different profiles, I deleted all but one (sort of confusing but I finally figured out how to delete the profiles).

It took a lot of  rebooting between the Mac and Win7 partitions.

So far so good.

I still don't think I've found a mouse that fits my hand and has the extra buttons in a comfortable, natural location.  The G700 is a good compromise.

You can configure it nicely with controllermate to your liking.

Re: Mac support for G700 mouse

We currently do not have software for the G700 on Mac systems, but you can program the mouse on a PC and move the settings over to your mac. Just make sure to use 125 reports/sec on for the mouse's refresh rate: While they improved support for high report rate mice in Lion, it still feels a little off to me.

Re: Mac support for G700 mouse

Hi, I understand the G700 must be setup via setpoint on a PC, and have been successfully using the mouse for a while with a windows 7 pc.

However, trying it on my mac, everything works as it should but NONE of the side buttons - G4,5,6,7 work.  All the other buttons work as mapped in the setpoint software on the pc.

How do I fix this?

Re: Mac support for G700 mouse

They are smooth, but you will have to use a PC to set the onboard memory. Mac OS X doesn't like high report rates on a mouse, so set up the onboard profiles to use 125 reports/sec. You'll get smooth tracking then.

Re: Mac support for G700 mouse

Wow, I was just in the market for a new gaming mouse and had vertually settled on the G700 however having read through these post, and inparticular the contempt that Logitech show in your answers, or should that be 1/2 answers, I wont be buying any Logitech product fullstop. For a company of their size to simply ignore every request here - over years - and not produce something as simple mose driver, unbelievable.
