Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

Okay everyone, here is a GUARANTEED solution to setpoint not detecting your mouse when running Windows 7 x64. I stumbled across this fix and have had absolutely no problems since. After installing setpoint, launch msconfig, disable setpoint on the startup items menu and reboot. Now you will have to launch setpoint "device settings" manually after each boot in the start menu but it will work flawlessly each time and allow you to access all of the advanced functions and features of your Logitech gaming mouse. As for Logitech support, I cannot believe that they have not discovered this fix on their own but can forgive and forget the lack of a helpful solution from them. Anyway, I hope this helps all of you solve your problems and Good Gaming everyone.

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

I will give that a try.

I found I could NOT get it to work using the latest Setpoint. However, I used the Setpoint off the original disk, and I was able to get it to work.

Problem is, it stops detecting it after reboot and after sleep sometimes. It just stops working out of nowhere. Sounds like the service is failing to start maybe?

I'll report back if your fix works.

Seems to have worked for me first try! Thanks. I guess the installed service has a problem starting up or something.

In any case, this fix seems to have worked. Cheers!

I just wanted to say, this isn't a fix, it's a workaround. It's great that you found it and told people about it, but you can't expect a company to say "this is how to make it work" on this.
However, I'm sure this discovery could lead to finding the source of this bug. :smileyhappy:

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

I found the fix and it's not logitech's fault.

After going through what seems like all of the possible solutions to this problem, I read a random fix for what I believe was a G9 or something.

Basically - just uninstall your freaking antivirus! I had AVG, the guy whose post I read had Spyware Doc on. If you know what websites you go on and aren't stupid enough to download something you're not supposed to, you really don't need anti virus.

After I did that it was all an easy uphill ride :smileyhappy:

Stay classy Logitech. I love my g500, yeeaahhh!

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

Same problem here.

The above workaround of disabling setpoint in startup, then starting devicesettings.exe after boot, does NOT work for me.  (Nor any of the other workarounds mentioned herein.)  I have tried it with version 5.2 that came with the mouse, and the latest 6.3 from the G500 download page.

Has anyone yet figured out how to reliably get a Logitech product to work on Win7?

Hello Iowa,

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

1.Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

3.Click the Driver tab.(Driver Provider should show Logitech)

4.Click update driver

5.Choose Browse my computer

6.Choose let me pick from  list

7.Choose the Logitech driver

At this point you may be asked to reboot the system

What does the driver provider is show  in step 3 ?

Regards,

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

I'm having the same problem, and my set point is stuck at 5.44.5 and says my driver ver is 5.30.67 but my mouse and keyboard settings say control center version is 6.30.41 and driver version is 5.30.67.

In device manager it says logitech HID mouse.

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

OK - another update: the workaround to STOP the service from running at systme boot, and then manually running it, has suddently STOPPED working.

In device manager, the mouse says it is using driver: 4.82.4.0

Is that the most recent? I try to check for updates from logitech, but the software does not find any driver updates.

This is incredibly frustrating that my mouse wont work properly.

Re: SetPoint will not recognize G500 on Windows 7 x64

@ Danimaltron, no it should be v5.30.42.0, which is the latest Setpoint v6.30.

It's broken, there are numerous people with this issue where it won't detect the mouse, including me.

I suggest to everyone to call Logitech so this is logged and they fix it.
