Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Sorry if this post was made before on the forums but I recently got the G700 with hopes that Logitech might do a better job with macro keys then Razor did.  Long story short, the buttons died on that MMORPG gaming mouse razor made.

My problem is that the Setpoint Program (6.3 I think) doesn't detect the G700.

I read similar posts saying remove the battery from the mouse.  That didn't work.

I tried using the charging cord so that it'll connect directly into the computer.  (I read the instructions so I know which cord is which)

I tried connecting the receiver on a front USB port.

I rebooted the computer and that didn't work.

The mouse works fine, I just want to assign the G keys.

So am I missing something?  Is there a forum post already like this one?

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Hello That_Furry_Fan,

Make sure you do not have other mouse controlling software installed.

Do you see the G700 here:

Launch SetPoint (Start > Programs > Logitech > G9x, G500, and G700 Gaming Mice > Device Settings).

If not please do the following:

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

1.Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

3.Click the Driver tab.(Driver Provider should show Logitech)

4.Click update driver

5.Choose Browse my computer

6.Choose let me pick from  list

7.Choose the Logitech driver

At this point you may be asked to reboot the system .

Best Regards,

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

I have been having the same problem with my SetPoint drivers for the G700 I purchased a few days ago.  Which drivers are you suggesting that I select from the browsing option to update to in step 7?  Is there a specific folder that contains the G700 drivers after I install the SetPoint software?

Thank you for your time

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

you could download the 32bit or 64bit exe yourself

from the download page of your mouse

check at  C:\Program Files\Logitech  (64bit) or C:\Program Files (x86)\Logitech (32bit)

if there isnt a setpoint directory already if so uninstall the old setpoint drivers

then reboot to make sure everything is gone

or if you used another brand mouse uninstall that

then install the 32 or 64bit software and reboot

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Thank you for your reply.  I have done what you have suggested multiple times already with the smart installer .exe and the 64 bit installer.  Each time after uninstalling I ran a registry cleaner utility to make sure everything was removed as well.  I have tried virtually every suggestion that I have come across on several different forums with no success until earlier evening.

Somehow the program decided to start working today after doing a Windows Update which seemed to be nothing of great importance.  I tried another install of the SetPoint software after uninstalling again, turning off my firewall/antivirus programs, and cleaning the registry with CCleaner.  After installing SetPoint again, removing it from my startup, rebooting again and running it as administrator my G700 was detected and I was able to use the software completely.  Also, the G700 is currently plugged in with the charging cable... SetPoint did not seem to detect it wirelessly.

Hopefully this will continue to work when I use the G700 wirelessly as it is still presently charging.

Thanks again for the advice  8)

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Hello,

I had same problem. I downloaded setpoint630_smart.exe and tried to install, first i thought installed well. I started start>logitech>logitech unifying software, first screen about introduction, then i clicked next, it said please plug usb dongle (or smthng like that) it didnt detect my g700.. i tried 5-10 times different way to detect it. i failed everytime. Then i just explore something, first i uninstalled it then i installed to different folder and folder contained nothing. It was a installation failure. Here is the solution, download full pack, not smart pack. In support, downloads, mice, wireless gaming g700 section, first choose your os then choose setpoint 6.30 and latest setpoint version.. Important part is "not click download software". In that page, there is a red writing important and a little down there is a tip, "Tip: if you're having......... full installer package (32 bit/64 bit)" click what you use, 32 bit or 64 bit, and install full package.. After installation complete, click start>logitech>g9x,g500........

I installed to full package, now it works fine.. I hope your problem will solve...

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

I've just bought G700 mouse, and it's lovely, except Setpoint won't work.

I get a 201 error when installing it.

It also won't detect my mouse at all,  I've tried all of the above posters suggestions, installed old versions, installed the specific w7 64bit download, multiple reboots and install/uninstalls.

I've only used a microsoft intellimouse optic before this one so the drivers are built into windows so can't be removed.

"Launch SetPoint (Start > Programs > Logitech > G9x, G500, and G700 Gaming Mice > Device Settings)."

The above line makes no sence, are you refering to ALL Programs in the start menu?  If so, I dont have the > G9x, G500, and G700 Gaming Mice > Device Settings)" in my Logitech folder.

I'm unable to bind any of my mouse keys until I get Setpoint working, so can someone please help me?  None of the above posts suggestions have worked.  The mouse itself is working, just can't change the G buttons to my games.

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Hello MeveM,

Error 201 sometimes indicates that something is blocking the installation. Please try installing in clean boot mode http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/228/~/booting-clean-in-windows-7,-vista,...

If this fails please post your operating system version.

Best Regards,

Hello Cintech.

Thanks for the responce but it's no good.  Tried the above and I still get the 201 error message.

I'm at home now so I can give a bit more detailed info.

Operative System:  Windows 7 Home Premium.  Service Pack 1  64-bit

In the Start menu > All Programs > Logitech I have the following two options,

Start menu > All Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings

(This does not show my G700.

Start menu > All Programs > Logitech > Unifying > Logitech Unifying Software

(Which does not detect my G700 Dongle)

If I go into program files\SetPointG and start the DeviceSettings,  it starts up Logitech SetPoint but it does not detect my mouse and in the options there it states the following;  Setpoint version 5.46.10 and Driver version 5.33.14.  (I installed the SetPoint 6.32 version.)

That is all that is in my SetPoint, and seems strange that I can open it that way at all since the install said it failed with the 201 error?

The ConnectUtility in the SetPointP folder only seems to want to detect keyboards as it asks me to use the decide, and the only thing to use it on is a box to type in,  Well I've got a Saitek keyboard, not Logitech nor is it wireless.  So that's a dead end as well.

Within the SetPointP folder there is a SetPoint icon which gives me a loading sanddial next to my mouse for a split second but nothing opens.

Not sure what else info I can give you.  As I said, I tried downloading a older Setpoint installer without any success.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Edit:  Also want to add that this PC is less then 2 months old so it's not cluttered with a load of rubbish.

Edit 2:  Want to add that in device manager my mouse is down as "HID-Compliant Mouse" and in the properties on that the driver manufacturer is Microsoft, not Logitech.  There's 2 of them, both having the drivers dated back to 2006.  I've tried uninstalling one, and nothing happend,  rebooted and it was back to 2,  if I uninstall the 2nd, the G700 stopped working until I replugged it and windows did it's own driver install instantly again.

Re: Setpoint 6.3 doesn't detect G700 Mouse

Hello MeveM,

Please try the following :

At this point you may be asked to reboot the system

The G700 in not a Unifying device and the Unifying Connection Utility will not detect the receiver .

Start menu > All Programs > Logitech > Mouse and Keyboard > Mouse and Keyboard Settings will not detect the G700

(Start > Programs > Logitech > G9x, G500, and G700 Gaming Mice > Device Settings) is the SetPoint for the G700

If you are using an external hub or passthrough device please disable them for trouble shooting .

If this has not installed please remove SetPoint and install in clean boot mode . Please disable antivirus software temporally.
