G-series Gaming Mice

If i use the sidescroll/tilt of the mousewheel of my g9 the entire pc freezes - all applications stop working and the mouse curser can't be moved,too.

This lasts for approximately 5-7 seconds and then everything goes back to normal, no further problems, no crash or anything just this short freeze.

I should also mention that this happens once per "session": if the pc freezes once it has to be shut down and restarted in order for the freeze to reoccur.

I've tried to uninstall the set-point software and reinstall the latest version, i tried binding different functions to the 2 sidescroll keys (including macros and simply disabling them) and i connected the mouse to a different USB port but those freezes still appear.

I'm pretty confident it's no hardware incompatibility since uninstalling the set-point software disposes of the freeze-problem. (though i'm not sure if the keys are even active without the software and i can't bind any function to them without set-point)

All my efforts to solve those freezes yield no success but i want to get rid of it since it's **bleep** annoying if the pc just freezes when i write something or when i'm gamin.

Dont know if this helps but i'm running Visat (32 bits) and i have a Logitech G11 connected (causes no trouble but maybe there are cases of incompatibility known?).

If you need more info i can create a dxdiag and tell you more about my specs.

I appreciate any suggestions plus it would be good to know if this freeze-problem is caused by me/my software or if another mouse would fix it and i should just contact customer support to get a replacement mouse.

One last thing: i didn't connect the mouse to another computer and installed the software there  but if this is necessary i will do so.

Please do try using the mouse with a different computer. This way we can tell if the problem is with the mouse or something specific on your system.

Ok, i've connected the mouse to another computer (running XP) and it works just fine, no freeze.

Unless someone suggests otherwise i guess this has something to do with Vista.

I'd be happy if anyone can help me.

Has the sidescroll ever worked properly before on this system? If it has, which version of SetPoint were you using then?

No, it never worked on my system properly, had the freeze right from the beginning.

I've just googled  it and it seems i'm the only one having those strange freezes... i'm running out ot ideas.
