Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

I'm not sure if thier are special drivers for Windows 7. When I installed the setpoint drivers I had a window pop up stating the driver wasn't tested on this version of Windows. I looked an was unable to find a specific driver for W7. I went ahead and installed the Vista driver and it seems to be doing fine. I'm able to change DPI smoothly, configure buttons for specific programs (love my refresh, forward, and back buttons for Firefox.), and games seem to be doing fine.

I'll check in from time to time and give updates on how things are going. Hope this is helpful for some people.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Hi:smileyhappy:,

Windows 7 is not officially supported at the moment. This is because the Windows 7 operating system has not been officially released to the public by Microsoft. It is still in the Release Candidate stage and not the final retail version. Our current software has been tested and certified for use with Windows Vista or older operating systems.

Windows 7 compatible software will be made available in the future. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please check our website regularly for any updates on this.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

While it is understandable that supporting a pre-release OS would cause more trouble than necessary, I must point out the fiasco that Windows Vista had when it first came out.  Granted, on a basic and fundamental level of functionality, mice and keyboards can work satisfactory as they wait for proper software and/or drivers.  But with the mess that Microsoft has caused with the launch of Vista, and the hardware compatibility problems of not having drivers to bring the hardware's fullest potential, it would be good if you would release a pre-release version of the software and/or drivers that supports Windows 7 at the very least.  Companies like nvidia, AMD/ATi, and even Creative Labs all have released Windows 7 drivers (albeit a beta version) for their hardware despite that the OS is at Release Candidate stage.  Do not fall behind!

If you are going to develop a compatible version of your drivers and softwares to support Windows 7, all I ask is that these driver/software be released between RTM and the OS's street date.  There will be people who will sidestep the waiting game and pick up an OEM copy of the software.  Early adopters will seek out proper drivers for their hardware, as will I, being a Windows 7 x64 user myself and owning a G5 mouse.  The sooner proper drivers and/or software are released for Windows 7, the better off users like myself will be when they make the early jump to the new OS.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Windows 7 has now been released for companies. Our employer has the final version. They have an IT section and they have been supplied the release version. The version for the public has not been released yet. Only the corporate version.

We are currently getting new machines with Windows 7.

So when are G5 mouse drivers going to be made available please?

Thank you.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Are there any update on these g5 drivers for windows 7, im getting pretty tired of the disfunktional vista 64 drivers, that wont autostart on windows startup, and it keeps getting turned off whenever i brows the net or use different programs. As already mentioned, other venders doesn't seem to have a problem pre releasing drivers for windows 7, there's absolutely no reason for Logitech to not do the same, except for lazyness..

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Going to top this up and casually mention that the G5 drivers do not function right, as games do not recgonize theprogrammed buttons on the mouse,

There is something wrong here, when I move the mouse, the processor usage goes up to 40%. What is going on??? There is some incompatibility with windows 7?

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

G5 drivers don't work with windows 7. They work fine until u put them under high stress....e.g. gaming, switching between apps. Then mouse fails....appears like power fails to usb port.....lights on mouse go off and familiar usb audio "dong" signals new device detected. mouse starts working for about 30 secs and then fails again. I have not found a solution to this problem. any ideas
