Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

I have also experienced this now, it is extremely annoying. The mouse works flawlessly 95% of the time but occasionally it loses power or freezes, etc. For a gaming mouse this is laughable as I now have the pleasure of dying in games constantly. The most pathetic thing about it is it was working fine in Win7 until I updated my Setpoint software. I originally upgraded to Win7 64 from Vista 64 and the G5 worked perfectly with whatever it was setup with. I went back and tried to install older software(wasn't quite sure what version I had before) but the issue doesn't seem to go away. I was even going to give in and get a G500 but I'm happy someone posted saying that is broken as well. Logitech really needs to fix this problem or I won't be buying their products ever again. I've exclusively used Logitech mice for over a decade..

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

I have problems with G5 too. I can not use any of the extra buttons on the mouse in Battlefield Bad Company 2. The game doesnt recognize that I have programmed the buttons to 1,2,3... or NUM1, NUM2, NUM3 and so on. In Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 there is no problem. This is the first time I had problems with G5 and gaming. Please fixi t asap. I have no problem assigning buttons with Razor Naga and it works flawlessly in Bad Company 2

(but Razor has too many buttons and it is hard to hit right with your thumb fast)

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Funny you mention that because after I updated my software a few games no longer seem to work with the mouse which is perplexing to say the least. Never had any strange mice issues like this before. It seems like Logitech managed to break things that used to work fine.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

So I updated to the newest thing I could find which is:
Logitech series mouse and keyboard version 6.00 official SetPoint driver for WinXP/Vista/Win7 released on Mar 3rd 2010.

I still have the same problem.
I've tried all the settings but nothing helps.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Hello.

I'm new to this forum. I found it by googling for "g5 freeze" and amazingly this topic here describes exactly the same problem I have after updating to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and SetPoint 6.00.68. Before I used Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with an older Version of SetPoint (4.9) that actually was made for Vista - had no problems. Now that I changed the Windows 7 edition and installed fitting drivers, these goddamned "freezes" happen. I'm so annoyed! The support here is telling me that my mouse is broken - kind of funny^^. Probably all mice are suddenly damaged - what an coincidence!

Well, i don't know what to do, because i don't believe in an hardware fault at all. And returning the G5 will cost quite some time and nerves, plus i don't have a replacement for that time. Moreover my retail handler doesn't have a new G5 anymore and would send me a used one instead, with which I probably will have the same issues.

PS: I'm also expieriencing this problem Logitech G5 - Increased sensitivity at startup

I hope someone will find a solution before my guaranty ends :/

bye

Mine works with the 4.8 drivers.in BFBC2 . I dont dare install 6.0 drivers.   I set Keystroke assignments in setpoint for the corisponding keystrokes in the game settings.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Setting Logitech Set Point to start with Admin priveledges worked for me in Win 7 - here's the thread...

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Yes, in my case, custom programmed buttons did NOT work in any application that was run as administrator when SETPOINT was not run as administrator also.

Solution worked perfectly and makes sense.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

If you guys are having a situation where the mouse seems to stop working, and you hear the windows USB disconnect noise, I'd test it on another PC. If it continues there, a fault in the wires of the cable might have formed. If the mouse is in it's 3 year warranty, contact support; they'll assist you from there.

If the support team determines that a mouse replacement is needed, then with the replacement mouse, don't let the cable dangle down behind the desk and catch on things: keep some excess slack so that the cable isn't tugged repeatedly when you're moving the mouse around.

Re: Windows 7 and G5 drivers.

Ok well I have a G5 mouse, just got windows7 64 bit and have three computers and guess what? Mouse works fine on all of them except windows7.

If there is one thing I HATE it's when people like you use your forum position to make excuses, instead of just admitting what is blatantly obvious.  These people and myself do not have a hardware problem, there is nothing wrong with our mice, the Logitech driver software for windows7 is substandard and not functioning.

I would appreciate it if you would stop insulting our intelligence and take a little a responsiblity for what is clearly a mistake that you would like to fix if you could and stop making insulting suggestions,

The truth is the software does not work right and you are sorry and your dev team is working on it and you hope that they have the problem corrected in a timely manner, this is embarrassing for you and your company and you would like to appoligize to the loyal Logitech customer base for the inconvience they are having to endure as a result of Logitech not putting this at a higher priority.

I'm leaving to buy another mouse from another company right now ($89.99 to your competitor), I hope you get your crap together, none of us are buying your remarks as anything but useless, seriously give it a rest.

Remember, there is no excuse for success.
