Dual Action Gamepad compatibility with MAC

The Dual Action Gamepad I just bought shows Mac compatibility on the back of the package.  However, the software that came with it is only for Windows, and so is all the downloadable software on your website.  Since the instructions say to load the software before plugging in the gamepad, how do I get this to work on my Mac?

On the Mac, it actually doesn't require the software. It interacts directly with the game. What game(s) are you attempting to use it on?

Re: Dual Action Gamepad compatibility with MAC

Thanks for responding.  I actually got it to work.  It had to be set up in the game, and since I'm new to Mac it took me a while to figure out how it was done.  I finally muddled through.  I still have to get used to a "it just works" mentality.

Thanks

No worries. You'll get used to it (My personal laptop is a 2.6 Penryn MBP w/ 4G RAM)

Re: Dual Action Gamepad compatibility with MAC COD 4?

The reviews of this gamepad on the Apple Store site are reporting that the unit is not functional with Call of Duty 4. I was thinking of getting it but now I'm not sure.

On another topic, if it does work, how hard is it to learn to point in FPS, first person shooters, with a game pad?  The mouse is directional, but m MX Revolution is way too sensitive and over turns....

Thanks

Re: Dual Action Gamepad compatibility with MAC COD 4?

I just went to the Apple store and bought Call of Duty 4 and a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad.  The game works fine but the gamepad doesn't.  I've searched all the option and controller menus and don't see anything that allows me to specify a gamepad.  Is there a Logitech software driver that can be installed from this site?

It seems a bit strange that Apple is selling both the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad and a game that should logically work together but they don't.  I'd like to return both the gamepad and the game if there isn't a quick fix.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dual Action Gamepad compatibility with MAC COD 4?

jefferis- This is an ideal post actually for a new topic :smileywink:

Anyways, it appears CoD4 does not have game pad support on the mac. This feature is something added by the software developer, and we don't have much control over...

In my opinion, the best way to play FPS games is with a mouse and keyboard. The keyboard allows you to use more inputs with your left hand at once, and the mouse gives you more fine control over the movement of your crosshairs. Controllers can be more egronomically pleasing during long or casual gaming sessions though, but it's harder to move and aim in my opinion.

To use our gamepad on the mac, currently, it depends on the developer including support for gamepads to be used. We are aware of situations like yours, and all I can say right now is that we want to address the market to make sure our customers are happy. I can't say much beyond that :smileywink:
