Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

Problems with using this touchpad with Vista could be related to your bluetooth stack. Are you using a built in or aftermarket dongle, and which version of Bluetooth are you running? The media control functions are designed specifically to run with the PS3's media appliacation, so they will not work right with Window's built in media app. But yeah, the trackpad is likely related to your bluetooth stack. I will do my best to point you in the proper direction, but the keyboard is designed for PS3 after all (Though, the keyboard itself is working!).

Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

Charles....thanks for your reply...

The situation is : Logitech Cordless Mediaboard is working perfectly in Win XP, the keyboard is good and the touchpad is good as well. But, in Vista Ultimate, with the same bluetooth dongle, the same version of bluetooth, my PC can recognize Logitech Cordless Mediaboard and other bluetooth devices, keyboard works, touchpad is solid. On the other hand, my other bluetooth devices, like Nokia E61 phone, it is OK with the bluetooth dongle both in Win XP and Vista.

Although this keyboard is designed for PS, but after test, we can say it runs very well with PC in WinXP. Actually, I don't mind it can not work right with windows's bulit in media app, what I want is let the touchpad be working in Vista.

My bluetooth stack is not bulit in, I bought it from marekt. I do not know this verson. It is using IVT BlueSoleil 1.6 as driver.

Just an update...

I updated to Vista Ultimate yesterday and my Mediaboard Pro is working fine. The keyboard and touchpad are working. I am using the D-Link DBT-120 bluetooth adapter and whatever drivers Vista installed for it during the setup. I did have to enter a passkey however. I just entered the number into Vista, typed the passkey on the KB, and then hit ENTER. Recognized and installed the KB.

Hope this helps...

Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

Great! I bought a D-link DBT-120 and it is just like what mjm7496 said, in Vista, keyboard working and touchpad working!

Finally, the key is the bluetooth stack, the previous one may not campatitalbe with Vista, but DBT-120 can!

mjm7496, Charles, Thanks very much!!!

Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

I want to buy this keyboard MediaBoard Pro for my HTPC that runs on Vista, now I hear people saying it works (even) on Vista with a BT dongle. This shouldn't be a problem.

But can I also get to the BIOS menu? Or do I still have to connect my old keyboard first when I want to enter the BIOS menu?

Thanx!

I have to plug in a USB KB to make modifications to the BIOS. YMMV

The Mediaboard Pro is a Bluetooth only keyboard. You must have onboard bluetooth to use this keyboard. It also does not come with a dongle. You will not be able to use this to edit your BIOS.

If you have a PC, I would recommend waiting for the diNovo Mini.

Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

Thanx for your reply!

But I don't think I can type nicely on such a small keyboard like the dinovo mini.

The dinovo edge is too expensive for me (besides this one uses bluetooth as well)

I think I'll go with the Mediaboard Pro anyway and use my old USB keyboard to edit my BIOS, I still have a bluetooth dongle left.

Thanx!

This keyboard is working perfect for me, in the bios, in XP, the settings seem fine in the pointer.
I've looked a long time for a wireless keyboard that preferably had trackball type pointer and a fullsized numberpad .
I have it on the front of a mixer in a studio and it moves, and is then velco'd to the mixer; it's small and it's working great..
Now, the *only* problem is protools uses that dumbass windows key.
How can I hit that on this keyboard?  is there a driver I can install to remap somehow some third party driver?
I'd hate to have to keep the other keyboard connected for one stupid key; which is what I do now.
I have multiple heads on the box, so I had a mouse and screen for each keyboard area; but once I did away
with that I noticed that every once and awhile I'd lean over and hit the windows key...
I know that in the dos days we could hit control or something and the number keys for a special character; that worked
for passwords in windows last time I remember.... But; alas I have no number pad.. So even if I found the special char
for the windows key; right; I'd be out of luck, is there a magic key combination that equals the windows key?

Re: Cordless Mediaboard - PC Compatable?

If you press the Ctrl + Esc keys it is the same as pressing the Windows Key.  With that said, it is not possible to use that in combination with other keys. (i.e. pressing the Windows Key + D minimizes all open windows and shows the desktop, pressing Ctrl + Esc + D just opens the Start Menu and does not allow the same function.)  Unfortunately, that's the best I can tell you.  I'm not familiar with the newer versions of Pro-Tools.  I know with older versions, and with other recording software, there is a way to remap the actual commands within the program.  If you really like using that keyboard, you might want to check and see if there is a way to remap the most common key combos that you use to something that works with your set-up.  Hope this helps.
