Hello

One more forum post about pairing the RF extender and the 890 Pro remote.

I followed the procedure, added remote and the extender. I first needed to update the Extender then it ask me to update the remote. But what after that?? The extender does not work. I can`t control anything with the RF.

Did you get any help on this? I have the same problem with a plain 890 - no wireless control at all.

in both cases, make sure you add the extender to the account...then you have a choice for each device to control it via the remote or the extender...pairing should be automatic between the extender and the remote

The steps for pairing the RF Extender with an 890 Pro are different than the steps for the 890 and 1000. Please refer to this help article:

Hi,

It looks like this article is for the 890Pro, besides the latest software removed the pairing option from the remote. It is supposed to do it automatically - doesn't work.

Have loaded the latest firmware, software that was available last weekend. No wireless function. Remote works on IR, but the purpose of buying this remote was to get wireless!

Any other ideas? Otherwise this thing is going back to the store.

The 890 and 890PRO are apparently very different from a software perspective, you may be better off with a new thread so your issue gets better attention.  Here is a FAQ regarding RF extender pairing issues, beyond that I believe the current 890 pairing process should be driven exclusively from the software and doesn't use the pairing button at all.  If the FAQ procedure doesn't work I'd remove the RF Extender from your account, update your remote to control everything from IR, and then re-add the extender.  If THAT doesn't work I'd probably stat a new thread referencing the things you've done to troubleshoot or give tech support a call and see if you can get some real-time help.

Thanks for the help. Tried everything again. Remote works with IR, but nothing on wireless. Taking it back to the store. Maybe just a bad extender - Thanks again

Anything new on this issue?  I just bought 890 Pro and Extender.  The extender doesn't do anything.  If I set 890 Pro to control components it does.  When I set wireless extender to control components nothing happens.  I have tried various suggested techniques to pair, unpair, update firmware, run in safe mode, etc., and have invested more time in finding a solution that I feel I should have to given the amount of money spent on this remote.

I hope there is a solution made available soon or else I will return and look for another way to handle my setup.

I decided to revisit this issue. I followed these directions to the letter:

What I had failed to do was the Z-Wave part. I didn't think that applied to me since I didn't have any lighting controls. I did what it said and sure enough I now have a pairing and everything in the cabinet is being controlled by the RF Extender.

Hope this helps someone else who is struggling.
