Go to Website to update settings

[ Edited ]
I have a Harmony 785 and during my last update it failed randomly and now the screen says to Go To The Website to update. When I do this the progress reaches 80% and fails. I've tried changing the firmware and this fails too. Can anyone help me out, i've only had the unit 2 days?

Thanks

Edit: get message "ERROR: Updating Region: HIDServiceExceptionCannotEraseFlash - The information was not sent...

Re: Go to Website to update settings

If you pull out the battery for a few seconds and then put it back while pressing the power button this should put you into a safe mode that may allow you to update the firmware and reconfigure the remote.

Re: Go to Website to update settings

I have just had the same thing [with only minor variations] with my first attempt at setting up my 785. Here is my problem:-

After FULLY charging the remote battery I attempted my first setup.

The process froze at "Verifying the data written to the remote control"

I had to use Windows Task manager to exit the process.

I then had a BLACK screen and had to remove and replace the battery to the remote. I then got the message : "Go to website to update settings". Since then numerous attempts have failed. Here is the Status log:-

Re: Go to Website to update settings

You say "the screen says to Go To The Website to update."

Does your screen remain ON at ALL times. I cannot "switch" mine off except by removing the battery.

Yes it remains on all the time and I had to remove the battery too.

Customer Support has determined the remote is faulty and is organising a return for me. Things are slow because of the Easter holidays I guess.

Re: Go to Website to update settings

i am having the same problem with mine
the remote constantly reboots at 80% ant wont recognise the usb is connected
i hava tried to update it an all my pcs with all my usb leads on all usb ports but keep on having the same results
i can do a safe mode firmware update with no problems at all
logitech even sent me a hex file to try but to no avail
i know that is is not my pcs fault as i have a 525 aswell and i have updated that about a dozen times in the last few days
i have had to bring all my original remotes out of storage so i can use my equipment.
i had moved over to logitech recently after being an advanced pronto user for the past 10 years, but if this problem is common i may have to consider moving back to philips remotes again.
lets just hope logitech can sort this out for me quickly.

Re: Go to Website to update settings

After a week of trying and eventually getting on to support in Canada I was informed that it was a hardware problem and was offered a 720 as a replacement - I believe that this is a slightly less capable model - but I accepted. I am still waiting for the replacement to arrive - 7 days has passed and 10 days is up on Monday; ever hopefull.....
