Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

Hi Guys

I recently purchased a Logitech RF extender to supplement my Harmony 1000.

Every time I try to ADD the extender via my software I am told it is not compatible !!!!

Any ideas most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

login to your software. click 'remote settings', click 'manage remotes'. click 'add wireless extender', connect the wireless extender to the usb port and follow the directions from here. once you have added the extender you need to assign devices to the extender and then click on 'update remote' which will guide you through updating the remote and extender. once the update finishes you will have to follow the directions on the remote screen to connect to the extender.

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

I have the same problem. As soon as the RF extender is connected to software the following message is displayed

"Incompatible RF Extenders

The remote and any RF Extenders you have added to your account are not compatible. We had to remove all incompatible RF Extenders from your account. To ensure proper communication, add the RF Extender that came with your remote."

Any ideas would be welcomed!

Thank you

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

My Harmony 1000 came from USA and my RF Extender from UK. Would this cause a compatability problem?

Thank you

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

HI Audioman

I think my situation is exactly the same I bought my Harmony 1000 off ebay only to find it came with a US plug so I assume it is american. The Extender I bought in uk.

Thanks for previous advice but I cant get past the ADD stage which is the frustration.

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

Well this seems to be the problem. See reply from Logitech below:

"I am sorry to hear that you have run into this issue with the Harmony 1000 remote & Wireless RF Extender. Unfortunately the North American Harmony 1000 & RF Extender operate on a differente RF Frequency than the European Harmony 1000 & RF Extender. These units cannot be swapped out between different models, and the RF Extenders need to match up to the correct remote.

The error you did receive is caused because you have incompatible versions of remote & extender. You will need to purchase a European Harmony to use the European RF Extender. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

Looks like I will either have to source a US RF extender or buy a new UK Harmony 1000. This is very frustrating when I did not even know the Harmony was coming from the US in the first instance......(Ebay!!)

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

I have had the same problem and have spent over 2 hours on hold and have 3 weeks worth of emails to customer support asking for solutions and getting none.  I have asked for a full refund and am getting the traditional run-around.  I have been promised a call from a "supervisor" 5 days ago.  Nothing yet.....Absolutely not worth the money

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

I too have incompatible kit; a UK harmony 1000 and a US RF extender.

Any owners with US Harmony and UK RF extender interested in a swapping RF extenders?

Hello Chippy2. If, as you say, you have a UK remote and a US extender then I will be happy to swap extender with you. I have a US remote and UK extender. Let me know if you would like to arrange this.  Are you in the UK?

Re: Harmony 1000 and RF extender compatability issue

Guys, I have the same issue as well. There was short supply of UK RF Wireless extenders and ordered one from US. Incompatible as my harmony was bought from the UK. Anybody who needs a US extender and wants to get rid of a UK one???
