Harmony One won't charge?

Hello all,
I have a Harmony One working fine, except when I place it on the charging base. The white light at the top of the base 'blinks' and the battery charges very little, if at all.

I can't find any explanation for this behaviour. Can anyone suggest what is happening?

Thanks,

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

the white light on the base has nothing to do with charging...it's merely a 'night light'

if that light is blinking, that indicates to me that something is likely wrong with the base and/or ac adapter

I would call tech support

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

I am currently experiencing the exact same problem. I always let the battery go down before I charge. Last time I didn't charge it because I was going on vacation. The battery never died but won't charge past 1 bar. I also am unable to charge via USB. My guess is it's a bad battery. Emailing tech support has been worthless so far, I already tried all their troubleshooting steps prior to opening a request.

If I ever get any answers I'll certainly let you know.

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

Leaving a Lithium ion battery with low charge laying around for an extended period isn't a good idea.  They stop working when there's a little charge left in them, but if that charge should dissipate over time the battery is useless.  Nothing wrong with topping off a LION battery nor does it lose charge all that quickly over time, but extended periods of leaving it mostly dead can severely disrupt the ability to hold a charge.  I try to charge it every night, but it usually ends up getting charged once the battery drops a bar.

It is much better to keep it constantly charged, by leaving it on the base whenever it is not in use.
The USB connection does NOT do charging.
Support should have given you this information immediately.
What was their actual response?
If the battery IS faulty they should arrange a replacement.

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

ok i have the same blinking lite issue and no charge on my remote ..now they say this is a bug and will send me an email in 3-5 days then how long till i get it fixed? Man what how will i run my system  it take 4 remotes to run my system and the old remotes are in storage ..man i just might take it back to the store.and replace it but i am scared that the bug is still out on the shelves and will be running into this again..anyone else have this issue..wish they would send me out the remote next day and r.m.a  the unit since they have all my data from logging in online ..this way i am only without the remote for 2 days not 2 weeks..you know send you the remote in a pre-paid box so all you have to do is swap it out and drop it in the box and send it back to them..

Hi and welcome.
Presumably it's relatively new, and if that is so then the supplier should exchange it immediately.
If you mean that a replacement from there might have the same problem I don't think that's at all likely.

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

the usb charging ability is something that tech support is saying and includes as one of there test to see what is wrong with your remote ..call them and tell them your remote isn't charging and see how long it takes them to say plug it in via usb lol and you will see why soo many people including my self think the usb supports some charge and ability to transfer it to the remote..

Re: Harmony One won't charge?

it doesn't charge by USB, it should receive power to update the remote via USB, but nothing more
