Harmony Remote Extender Device Limit

[ Edited ]

Is there any consideration for upping the limit of devices that the RF Extender can handle?  Although the 1000 can control 15 devices, the RF Extender limits you to only 8 devices.  Currently that limit is not a major problem for me but if I add one more device, I won't be able to use the RF Extender to contro it.

I understand there is an 8 device limit due to the IR port addressing but I am not using the IR ports.  I am using the IR blaster and if the Harmony software can tell the difference between the ports and the blaster, it should be able to know when and when not there is an 8 port limit.

You are still limited to the 8 device limit even without the blasters.  The 1000 is supposed to be able to control 2 Extenders.  But there was a problem in the software so that it could only control 1 extender, this was eirler in the year and I don't know if that has been fixed yet.

Re: Harmony Remote Extender Device Limit

So what you are implying is that the design was to use 2 extenders if you had more than 8 devices.  That seems like a pretty expensive solution.
