Activities - "Watch TV Without Waking the Wife"?

I was so happy I got the Logitech Remote!  Then I hit a snag...  I often sneek into bed after my wife has fallen asleep.  I used to grab the 2 or 3 remotes and first turn on the TV (which doesn't make a sound if the cable set top box isn't on), lower the volume all the way down (of course a different effect than mute), flip on the set top box, then creep up the volume.  WahLa!  TV and the wife is not disturbed!

Now with the Logitech, I sometimes hit "Watch TV" and "WWHAWWHAHEHWHWHAAAA!!!!!" .....   oops, sorry baby.

Logitech would Rule if they added a "Watch TV Without Waking the Wife" action!

Is there a way to do this with the "Watch TV" style button?  The menus won't let me move up/down the set-top-box turn on part of the action to move it below turning on the TV and additional "lower volume" actions.

Thank you much remote Support Group!

Hi,

I think your desire is to specific for Logitech to implement it. :smileysurprised: The only workarround I can think of, is to use the remote in device mode, to do all the steps you used to do with the original remotes. No way for you to program it into an activity .

What about this?

- Create a "Start TV only"-Activity with only added the TV.

- Start this Activity and lower the Volume as you like

- After that start your "normal" TV-Activity. While the TV still is running and Volume is lowered all other Devices will start up but the TV will stay untouched and silent.

Ok Wolf, you beat me once again. But may I suggest to add the necessary amount of volume down commands to the begin of the 'Start TV only' activity.

Works like a champ, not sure why I didn't see that as an option myself at first.  Perhaps I was hoping to do this with one button.

Re: Activities - "Watch TV Without Waking the Wife"?

Well, you probably can do it with one button, as long as your Harmony supports sequences. The general approach would be:

- in device mode, to learn (raw) multiple (I suggest 3) Volume Down commands to a single command, called, say, VolumeDowxX3

- in activity mode, to create a sequence with as many VolumeDownX3 commands as you need (maximum of 5 allowed)

- Have the activity turn on the TV AND invoke your sequence at activity startup

If yuu want more details on how to do this, let us know.
