Can't control volume/mute on Xbox 5.1 speaker system

Hi, I can't find anything specifically related in the other posts, so here goes; I have updated my 880 with the new device, the Xbox 5.1 speaker system and all the remote does is power up and power down the device. the volume controls fail to work even though the Harmony software tells me that the remote is already 'using the best set of commands'. I've tried everything I can find, including teaching the specific commands to the remote but, no luck.

Thanks,

jj

Re: Can't control volume/mute on Xbox 5.1 speaker system

Hey jj880

you sound really frustrated, and I can empathise! I had the hardest times trying to learn commands into my harmony. I had thought i was learning commands in raw, when actually I was learning in analyzed. Appearently when you first go into the learn IR section in the software, you are on the page to learn in analyze mode. this means the harmony is listening to the command the original remote is sending, and grabbing the CLOSEST language from their database (which may not be the correct language for your device, simply the closest). in order to learn in RAW, you must go in to the "learn IR" page, and scroll to the bottom (where you usually find next, previous and cancel) and click on the "custom" button. this will bring you to an exact copy of the previous page, only now you have the option to "learn selected commands in RAW".

when the harmony learns in RAW mode, it makes an exact copy of the infared command, and uses that to control your device.

are you sure you are learning in RAW? if not, try that, and if its not working after learning the commands raw, call cust care as the learning function may be defective.

Re: Can't control volume/mute on Xbox 5.1 speaker system

Hi, Thanks for trying to help. I did try teaching the RAW commands and that did not work either. I have been unable to log back on to this forum because of some strange glitch that keeps telling me "lithium token not found;email address required" which I have only been able to get around by now creating a new account with a different email address. You were totally correct in assessing my frustration level. Imagine how much higher it's gone up after experiencing a complete inablilty to log back in to respond to you or update my problem. Sigh. I am not techically inclined and am just trying to avoid paying a ridiculous $30 fee for Logitech to help me out, with no guarantee if success. Whining out of the way, has anybody got a workaround for this problem of mine?

Re: Can't control volume/mute on Xbox 5.1 speaker system

Hi. When you say "XBox 5.1 speaker system", are you referring to the Pioneer one? because if you are, it's in the database. I have it and it works perfectly. In fact it's the best behaved device I have in my (limited) setup.

Look for the Pioneer HTP-GS1 in the database.
