Harmony Remotes - Programming

I am trying to reprogram my 659, which was working OK. I have the same TV (Winbook M371), but a cable DVR (Motorola DCT3416) replacing a satellite box, and a different DVD player (Phillips DVP5960). The "WatchTV" button will not turn on the TV or the DVR. In trying to set up the "Watch TV" activity, I get a message "You do not have a device that changes channels." I have deleted and re-entered both the TV and the DVR, but I still get the same message. But the DVD activity works fine, turning on the DVD and changing the imput on the TV, and turning it off on command. Any ideas what I've done wrong? Thanks.

A preliminary question:

Have you been using the automatic option for setting up the Activities?

Yes, I have been using the automatic function.

Unfortunately that's almost always misleading.

Try again, using the manual option, and let us know if that presents any problems as to which device is to do which function.
