May have missed a couple of these going through the pulldown....
the following were in your preliminary keyboard definition and are (imho) critical commands;
<START> (the "Windows Start" as opposed to the green "Media Start" button)
<ESCAPE> (critical for things such as youtube and hulu)<TAB>
<Alt> (alone)
<PageUp> & <PageDn>
<Home> & <End>
The good news is that they are in the original keyboard, so,
can be made available by including both devices.

I will be contacting you to discuss your questions further.

Hi everyone, first of all - great work @ mce SE Device!
But i have one problem concering the keyboard shortcuts.
Iám using a Harmony 525 with an IR-Remote from Imon (inside).
I want to navigate and controll with these Componentes my DVBViewer PRO(for this viewer are the Plugins for the MCE medie remote installed).
The Problem: In the Imon Manager - i use the option MCE as Remote device - but there are different commands as i got in my logitech harmony software with the device MCE SE -> so i think the possibility to controll dvb viewer over my imon software is not possible.
Now i tried to use my harmony software -> first try is to set my commands that i have - that means: channel+ -> MCESE -> channel+ so on...
But these commands doesen´t work in DVBviewer (i think there are other ir commands which do other things).
Now i have got a List of keyboard shortcuts like ctrl+P ... for which i can controll all commands i want in DVB Viewer.
(i.e.: channel+ -> Strg + T) With this information i wanted to configure a activity (tv-controll) - with these shortcuts.
But most of these are even in the MCE SE Device not availibel.
Then i tried to teach these Shortcuts as new commands to the MCE SE Device - but this only work with original Remotes.
-> after that i contact the german logitech support. they told me that this is not possible - to set keyboards shotcuts as command or as command sequenze... -> i asked - how could it be, that i got already a few shotcuts in my MCE SE device (see first post)
--> they have no explanation ....
Now i´am hoping i find here help.
Can i add some keyboard shortcuts combination for my self?
Why is this so complicated?
Is there a keyboard device in the logitech database - which concludes all possible keyboard shotcuts?
i´am very thankful for all answers and advices - sry for my english - hope u can understand everything - if not feel free to ask
best wishes
tobi

I don't know what DBViewer is... can you clarify?
That said, a number of programs such as flash and alternate media viewers do not use the windows (wmplayer) "transport" controls... in fact, they assume mouse control and have no keyboard equivalents. The key question for DBViewer is if you can control it from a keyboard only (preferably a KB with transport controls) or is a mouse required?
even though the new SE keyboard offers mouse control, I have determined that using a BT mouse in addition to a harmony is essential in a media center environment to meet needs such as these.

An addendum;
fwiw, I've reverted to Pike's older "MCE Keyboard" device as it contains several critical windows keyboard commands that are not yet in the new SE definitions as noted in a previous post in this thread.

why revert? your suggestion to have both is working very well for me! I added both devices under devices but setup the activity to use SE as the default. Then I went to activities and selected Watch PVR > settings>review the settings> Yes, but I want to add more control.
There I added the MCE keyboard device to the activity.
After that I was able choose the MCE keyboard or the SE keyboard when customizing my buttons.
Anyway this is working well for me, thought I'd post the details on how I set it up in case anyone else finds it of use.
And great site bev.. I've revisited it many times as I tweak my perfect pvr setup ![]()

Hi all ![]()
I'm brand new in this forum, and i was surfing on this page.
I'm very interest about using my brand new bought Harmony 1000 with Windows Seven Media center.
i did all is specified on first page to configure the Harmony 1000, register buttons for mouse.
I use a laptop Asus A8JS which has an internal IR port.
I launch the Windows Media center on Windows seven on the laptop, and try to use the harmony to make some move, but nothing's working ![]()
I wonder is i really can use the internal IR laptop port to send commands ? should it works ? or do i need to buy an IR receiver ?
Thank you all for reading me and for your answers ![]()

Good point...
For me, on review, other than the mouse functions, there don't appear to be any commands in the extensive new set that I need, and there is no real estate left for the mouse functions in the media center activities.
In addition the mce devices are not flagged as "sound & picture" devices, so the additional cursor pads that those buttons offer on harmonys with those buttons are not available either.

There's not enough information in your post to determine what type of ir receiver your win7 pc has and if that receiver is eHome vs irda (eHome will work, irda will not)
Further, your "brand new" self designation means that there are a number of other points that you need to assure that are "in place" before concentrating on the mce setup...
i.e. is your harmony working with other devices
which mce device(s) do you have setup
are the buttons populated in both the device and activities that you are using,
do you have an oem mce remote
and does that work with the win7 setup,
exactly how are you testing
and exactly what programs are you using to test??

thanks for you reply !
i think it's an IRDA port that i have.
Should i guess that it cannot work ? (maybe Irda is only for data transfer)

to determine what type is to look at the laptop specs or the device manager...
There are some usb eHome ir dongles listed in the windows media section of the faq page linked below.
