Harmony Remotes - Programming

Hi, despite attempts at teaching my 525 the proper Power ON/OFF Toggle infrared signal and re-programming it to a Power On Delay of 2000MS (as instructed to do on another forum), my Panasonic TH42PZ8B refuses to power on when I use my 525 Activities buttons.

It seems that the only way of powering on my TV is by going into the Devices section and powering the TV on independantly. I re-mapped the Power On toggle to only Power OFF the TV (which works fine) and I moved the Power ON button to the Number 1 button so that the TV accepts the channel input and also the Power ON input from the same button. So now, if I need to power up my TV, I press "1" and she starts up without a problem.

However, this is time consuming and not what I want from the control. It means that whenever I am watching a DVD everything except the TV will power on and I then have to scroll back through MY Devices to get to the correct button to turn the TV on with manualy. The TV will not power on automaticaly when I push the "Watch TV" Activity button either.

Can anybody help me to programme the remote so that my Panasonic TH42PZ8B Plasma TV powers on when I push the corresponding Activity button instread of having to manualy do it as described above?

Hi and welcome.

Could you explain just how you did that, and what you mean by Power ON input?

The default Power On Delay for your TV is 9.5 seconds, which is close to the average for TVs.

Are you confusing that with the Duration, which defaults to 2 seconds?

Check at Devices> TV> Settings> Adjust Power that separate commands are allocated to Power On and Power Off.

Does the problem occur when you first enter an Activity from the all-off state, when changing from one Activity to another, or in both of those cases?

I think you misunderstood...you likely need a durational power on command...i.e. you need the command to be sent for 2 seconds....you don't need a delay

I just added the TH42PZ8B to one of my accounts as a test...the default setup for the power options is 'off when not in use' and separate commands for on and off....specifically, the 'on command' is 'power on' for 2000 ms and the off command is 'power off' for 2000 ms

make sure your tv is set to be the first device powered on and you should be all set...

by any chance, are you using scart connections at all?

I have got a similar problem with my panasonic p42x10y plasma, i'm not able to power on my tv with harmony 525, not even from Device section. I have tried setting power on for 2000ms, but it wont work.

Any ideas?
