Harmony 550 - Adding Additional Remote

After receiving the Harmony 550 as a gift, I decided to purchase an additional one to use on the same devices.  To program, do I just log into the application and choose the option similar to if I was replacing the existing 550 and its settings (i.e. Replace Remote)?  I would assume that this would copy all the information to my new remote.  Is my assumption correct?

Thanks in advance for the assistance

Re: Harmony 550 - Adding Additional Remote

You can copy the profile for your other remote to your new one, but remember that if you start using one remote and then try to use the other one the second one will not khow that you started an Activity using the first remote.  The remotes can not talk to each other.  The only model Harmony remote that will allow 2 remotes to contol the same equipment at the same time is the 890 Pro

Re: Harmony 550 - Adding Additional Remote

Hello Stiller & welcome to the forums.

HH is correct that two Harmony remotes with the same configuration will not be know what the other is doing & may cause synchronization issues.

I have helped a few customers resolve this situation since many people want to have 2 remotes controlling the same setup (especially if their significant other has fallen asleep).   What I've done in the past is designate 1 remote as a Primary & other as Secondary.  The setups are the same, but the Primary account is the only remote that does power & inputs. The Secondary remote can go into activities that have the same settings but sends no power or input commands, just has the same or slightly different button configuration.

This is the only way to prevent synchronization issues, but still allow control of devices once an activity has been set up.

Hope that helps,
