Harmony Remotes - Programming

Just setting up my new 550.  I have entered the TV (Samsung LN-T5265F), receiver (Onkyo TX-SR605) and Satellite DVR (DirecTv HR-21) and all have been accepted.  When I go to SET UP NOW on "Watch TV", I am being told that "None of your devices can change channels" and I am being asked to add another device.  It's like the remote is not realizing that the HR-21 is a Satllite box/DVR.

Anyone know how to fix this?

new activity...select 'manual' at the first choice, then watch tv, then watch non-tivo PVR (the HR-21 is a DVR, right?)...that should get you fixed

Contact Logitech Support. They should be able to change the device type. It does not appear to be an option of the normal configuration software.

I doubt that's the case...the HR-21 has been around for a while and I'm sure we would have seen A LOT more of these posts...I think it's a quirk of the automatic vs manual activity setup...

personally, I think logitech should remove the automatic option, as the manual option only asks a few questions and is pretty straightforward

I aggree with WANNA totally. 

You HAVE to use the MANUAL setup option for some reason.  The other stuffs up. 

Also, when you initially register your remote to the software, it takes you into setup.  That NEVER works right either.  Just add one dummy device initially, then delete it, and then start setup on your own.

Another reason why "automatic" is useless and could safely and beneficially be removed.

I just tried it to see what it would come up with - from all my devices just two options, Watch Movie and Play Game.

The first selected TV, amp, and DVD/VCR combo in an Activity that I already have; the second a device that has nothing to do with games.

each time I've programmed a harmony, I add all the devices, then cancel when it wants me to setup activities...that updates the remote with the devices....I do some device level command testing, then go back and setup activities manually, learn any commands if needed, etc...

Yes, get the Devices right, then go back for the Activities.

I was thinking of writing up a step - by - step for that initial testing of your devices and choosing the power and input settings. Has this been done somewhere?
