Harmony Remotes - Programming

I bought the 880 to take control of my xbox, receiver, tv and htpc.  It handles the first 3 flawlessly but I am having issues with using the 880 with a PC remote that i use to control my HTPC.  Specifically the remote is this chinavision from amazon.  After reading reviews you can see the remote is in the harmony database as Media Center PC-->Chinavision--> CVSB-983. 

After adding the device and updating the remote I went out to the living room to test and there was no response from the pc.  I then decided to force the remote to learn the commands, updated the remote and tried again and still it was not working.  I did some searching and found that you can learn the commands as raw.  Learning the commands raw worked but is completely unacceptable due to what seems to be an inherent lag in the button presses.  I have changed all delays and repeats to 0 and still no improvement.  As i push the button i see that the signal is fired for almost 1.5 secs no matter what the repeat or delays are set at. 

What i don't understand is how this remote is in the database but the codes do not work and why learning them normally did not work and I was forced to learn them raw?  I would like to have these codes learned correctly so that I can avoid the lag that comes with learning them raw.  Having to queue up several commands in wmc can take up to 5-10 seconds for the remote to catch up and also leads to accidental repeated button pushes.

I'm having the same trouble. Has anybody gotten a Harmony remote to work with the Chinavasion remote without using Raw commands?

             Its very strange the problem you are having controling your HTPC. Learning the commands in raw should have fixed the issue for you, let me explain why :  When the harmony learns in analyze, it simply listens to the command that your original remote sends and goes to the logitech database of infared languages, and selects the closest language for that device, or command, HOWEVER when you learn in RAW or CUSTOM as it is called in the software, the harmony makes an exact copy of the command that your original remote sends, and sends that exact command from now on, when talking to the selected device.

given that the harmony makes an exact copy of the command, I wonder if its possible you held down the keys you were learning. if you did, its possible that you may have held the button on the original remote down to long, and the harmony copied to long of a command sequence, which would explain it sending the infared for so long. I would advised re-learning the command in RAW.

if the issue presists, I would contact logitech customer care as it could be a hardware defect.

I have been in contact with Logitech for about a week now getting this issue corrected. I have captured all of the commands using an IR reciever connected to a computer and generated the hex codes for the commands. I was fortunate enough to get in contact with someone who specialized in the IR encoding and understood what I was talking about.

They have just tested these updated commands with me and are to be updating the Harmony database with them.

Until that is done, if you are having problems with controlling your Chinavasion CVSB-983 you may contact logitech and ask the to either copy the devices information from my account, sean_shooks, or use the hex codes below.
