Harmony One - Problem with Denon AVR-3808 command

Hi all.

I've been reading around here and haven't been able to solve this issue.

I can't find any exisiting command for the D/ST "soft" button (when the 3808 remote is in AMP mode) in the Harmony One software.

I tried learning it both in default and raw mode. It seemed to learn correctly, but it does not work on the receiver. I tought the One five or six other commands from the same remote and they all work fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome.

What does this command do?

Re: Harmony One - Problem with Denon AVR-3808 command

It switches between Direct input (automatically selecting output mode - multichannel, stereo etc.) and Stereo mode. If I want to force my receiver to play in Stereo only, I press this button. Though I usually use it together with the Pure Direct button which switches to Pure mode (as little sound processing as possible). I need the D/ST button to switch off Pure mode.

OK, thanks for the information.

This looks like a case for Logitech support to look at the "learned" command and improve on it for you.

Re: Harmony One - Problem with Denon AVR-3808 command

Hi,

well, I had a similar issue with the Play-Command on my PVR. It always sai it learned it, but it never worked. But when I learned the command in RAW it suddenly was functional. To do so, click on the 'Custom' button in the learning area. BTW: My issue was fixed by Logitech with a later version of the device.

Re: Harmony One - Problem with Denon AVR-3808 command

I already tried Raw mode with the same result. The software tells me it learned okay, but the receiver does not react to it.

Should I send a message to the Logitech support team or do they usually read this forum?

Hi,

the better approach is to contact them directly. Mostly they monitor the forum, but they don't respond to evey thread.

Yes, you need to inform them that you've "learned" a command, apparently with success, but that it doesn't work.

They can analyse it and find what's gone wrong, or simply provide an equivalent from some other source.

Thanks for all your replies guys. I actually managed to fix the issue myself after a little while.

Turns out there was both an update for the device database and the remote firmware. Why the h*** doesn't the Harmony software tell me this automatically? Silly me should have thought of that to begin with.

After the database update there are some additional commands included. Both Direct and Stereo commands are there now, so that basically solved the problem. It wasn't setup like on the remote where those commands are one button though.

Then, after updating the remote firmware and learning the raw command again it worked! :-)

I already sent an e-mail to the support guys, but also included the link to this thread, so I guess it's alright.

Re: Harmony One - Problem with Denon AVR-3808 command

some firmware updates happen automatically when you update the remote, others require you to go into the download section of the software....itsnever been explained why this is the caseas far as device profile updates, I like that they're not forced on you because sometimes commands vanish from profilesso to get the updated profiles for a device you have to "troubleshoot" the device
