Hi all,
I've found a lot of posts regarding MCE control and the problems with mapping keyboard shortcuts; the answers are either missing, incomplete, overly complex or beside the point...
So I'll ask this in a different way:
several functions of Media Center are only accessible through keyboard shortcuts. For example, the CTRL+E shortcut which goes to the Video Library (NOT Recorded TV -- this is the video library, where e.g. your DivX movies would be listed). There are more shortcuts like that, the list is in the Vista help.
Now what can be done to make this work with a Harmony One ?
And can this be done without extremely complex stuff like writing AutoHK scripts ?
If I can't find a way to do this, I either have to "manually" go to the Video Library by using the up / up / right / enter sequence or something like that, or keep my old S510 remote next to Harmony -- ridiculous, isn't it ?
More generally, why the heck doesn't Logitech give us a working solution to support (the commands available to / from) their own wireless keyboards and mice in the Harmony ?
I can quite easily remap a button on my Logitech Media Remote (from the S510 desktop set), but apparently there's no way to do this with the hyper-expensive Harmony One ?

That answer has nothing to do with his question. I also have this exact same question, and now with Windows 7 in RC, they have added a Movies library which i have no way to add to my remote.

The problem with these is that the Windows Media Center remotes don't have the buttons either.
Agreed.

The Harmony only has the buttons which are available on the Windows Media Center remotes and not what is available on the keyboard. To my knowledge the IR codeset for these remotes do not include ansi or ascii keymaps which is why third party scripts and apps are needed.
That's not true, unless there is a MCE remote that has all the shortcuts on them. Somehow logitech gave us LiveTV, RecTV, Videos, etc...
Three has to be a way to add them...

I do not think it is right on target to look for any key-encoding -be it ANSI, ASCII, UNICODE or arbitrary Scan-Codes- within remote commands. These are just commands sent via an inherently unreliable link without any backward channel.
The mapping from the "received command" to a desired "action" is done by the receiver and its soft/hardware. In many cases this mapping is (at least partly) configurable, but I don't know nothing about M$'s MCE configurability available to licensees.
There is always a certain set of commands (configurable with Harmonys!) your remote can issue (with certain ornaments). What the receiving instance does output to the device to be controlled is NOT the concern of your remote, it's up to the RECEIVER.
Good luck!
