Harmony Software missing command buttons

Hi,

I have a Harmony 550 which works great with all appliances that I want to control, at a basic level. To make better use of it, I wanted toi check customize buttons, and I dont know if it is a bug in the software (I have ver 7.5.0), I am not able to see the buttons "Sound" and "Picture" on the software.

Those two buttons do nothing when I use it with my DVD (and that is how I found that it is not even listed on the software). It would be great if I could program those two buttons.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

the sound and picture buttons can not be customized.  they work only in activity mode and bring up commands for the activity's default 'sound' and 'picture' devices.  i.e. the receiver and the tv, respectively.

Samsung LCD HDTV (LN52B750), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic BluRay Player (DMP-BD55), Onkyo Receiver (TX-SR806), XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, SlingCatcher....all with my Harmony 1100 w/ Wireless Extender
Samsung LCD HDTV (LN40B640), Scientific Atlanta HD DVR Cable Box (Explorer 8300HD), Panasonic Blu-Ray Player (DMP-BD60), SlingCatcher, Monoprice HDMI Switch (HDX-501)....all with my Harmony 900 w/ 2 Blasters

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

The Sound & Picture buttons can only be used for Sound devices (ie TV or AV Receiver) and Picture Devices (ie TV or Monitor)

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

Thanks for the quick response guys! What I see is that on the software, under "standard buttons" for my AV device (Pioneer receiver), I see all the buttons present in the remote and what each button will do. I dont see these two buttons listed at all.

And in my "Activities",

to watch a DVD, I have my TV, DVD Player and AV  Receiver listed. the two buttons dont work during that activity (ideally it should, right?)

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

depends on how you setup the activity....the sound and picture buttons themselves won't send any commands, but they change the 'mode' your remote is in.  however, if you setup a 'utility' activity, the sound and picture buttons won't do anything.

and yes, you won't see the sound and picture buttons on the customization page...as I said before, they can NOT be customized...and they themselves do not send any commands.

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

well, pardon my ignorance. If it does not send commands on its own, and if it is not programmable and if it does not work in my "Watch DVD" activity, what is the use of these two buttons at all?

And.. I also see that when I hit that button when I am on an activity for example, "Watch a DVD", it changes the screen to "Watch a DVD (Sound)" or "Watch a DVD (Picture)". Although the standard buttons work the same way in this suffixed activity just like my original activity, all the additional buttons disappeared. That leaves me with the same question!

Re: Harmony Software missing command buttons

There are some Activities in which the two buttons DO have a use - that's why they are there!

With the Sound sub-Activity you get all the commands for the sound Device only, with the Picture you get all the commands for the display Device only.
