How can someone screw this up?

So, I've had a harmony one for years and love it.  I convinced several family members to buy one and they love them also.  But tonight I get a call from one relative who just replaced their DVD player with a blu-ray player, and now he can't program his Logitech harmony One remote.   He get's an " unable to display content" error when he tried to download the configuration.

I beamed in to his Pc (I LOVE GoToAssist Express!!!!!!) and went through the whole configuration - can't find anything wrong.   I tried the "delete preference.mxl" and "delete logitech folder" approaches - neither worked.

I seem to recall that this problem can also be caused by invalid data in the config - and that is something that logitec can see and fix remotely.  Is that true?   He told me that someone in the process he had 3 TV devices listed - so I'm sure he did something wrong...  but when I saw it, he deleted the others and there was only a single TV let.

I wasn't sure if I should try to wipe the remote back to factory config and try a new download, or if i should contact logitech first.  Any ideas?  His support is beyond the initial config period.

Thanks for any help/suggestions anyone can provide.

I talked him into the purchase and now I can't help him get it working with his new hardware........

Re: How can someone screw this up?

Hi,

After changing a device in an activity, like here, you must run the soft to re-setup the activity.

In the present case you need to tell the soft wich input is necessary for the Blue Ray.

That's why you have this error message.

Hope this helps.

Re: How can someone screw this up?

THANK YOU.

Problem was the "input channel" needed for watching the VCR was some how blanked.  I put it back in and everything works great,  first time I came across that.   Thank you!

Problem solved.

Re: How can someone screw this up?

FYI, you can use the browser version of the software to log onto someone elses account and reprogram their remote. You just can't teach IR. I do this all the time for family and clients. Make the changes, then have them update their remote.
