How do I turn off devices and keep everything in synch with my harmony 1000?

I am new to the Harmony remotes and mosty have it working the way I want.  The problem:  When I go to bed, I have created a sequence that turns off the tv, av receiver and the satellite.  Works fine.  But in the morning, when I click the Watch TV button, nothing turns on.  If I click help, it walks me through and turns everything on, but this is a drill.  Any suggestions for turning all devices off but keeping things in sync?

Hi and welcome the forum.

Why aren't you using the Off button to turn off all the devices together?

If you include power commands in an Activity and send them manually you naturally disrupt the Smart State Technology that automatically controls the power and input status of the devices.

That's why it doesn't work when you try again the next day.

The Off button is a miniature Activity - it powers off all devices that are on and not set to be "always on".

Re: How do I turn off devices and keep everything in synch with my harmony 1000?

I was having a similar problem and came on here to see if I could find a better solution, but I think the best solution is to add power on for each device you are using in for an activity.  I was having problems when I would just walk by and turn off tv, reciever, or my TV (plasma) turns off automatically if I leave it off too long (fall asleep on couch).  I'm guessing the big point of the smart start is to reduce delay, but I wouldn't care.  Anyway to turn this off so it will just power up everytime?

Re: How do I turn off devices and keep everything in synch with my harmony 1000?

Welcome to the forum.

The idea with any Harmony is for it to do all the controlling - no original remote, no buttons on the devices.

What does "turns off automatically if I leave it off" mean?

If you leave it off how can it turn off again? :smileysurprised:

If you don't want the Harmony's full control you can set Devices to be "on all the time" and power them with commands Customised into your Activities.

That's it.  Never noticed that button before.

Thanks for your help.

That's OK, and a point in your favour is that the Off button is ridiculously small on the 1000.

The 900 has a sleep function built into it.
