How do you give feedback directly to Logitech?.. Harmony Software needs much improvement

I want to know how to provide direct feedback to Logitech. Do they Check all these forums? The Harmony Remote Program Software should be scrapped & remade totally. It is the most un-user friendly piece of junk software there is. The whole interface of it & look & functionality makes my job so much harder on a regular basis. Some initial suggestions off the top of my head would start with these.

  1. VIP: Don't auto log me out after small period of "Inactivity". Even when I am making changes, if I don't hit done after 10 mins it will log me out & delete all changes. This is absurd & ridiculous. I mean when you are a tech-savvy person like me. It takes times to tweek & adjust all the buttons & settings how you like them exactly. Especially with software this clunky & un-user-friendly. Not to mention this isn't some hi security banking site or anything. It is a remote control. Come on, Logitech, do we really need to log out. What?, is someone gonna hack my remote & program it. OH NO! Security Breach. Give me a break. We don't need hi tech security for a remote. No one will ever mess with it. If anything give us the option to auto log out & let us enable/disable it or change the log out timing at least. Make it longer. Or if we are tweeking the buttons & settings then don't log us out.
  2. Have a Forward & Backward on all pages. Navigation on the software is so lame. Press done then next then this then that. Just let me exit any page & go back when I make a mistake & click on wrong thing. Simple common sense says that is smarter. Previous & Next on every page, not just some of them.
  3. The drop down boxes to customize buttons, should be within a picture representation of the remote.Make it navigate just like the remote too. Page to page & buttons etc. If that means letting the software actually fill the screen & expand then so be it. Instead of having to refer to the #'s on the right & coordinate it. You could just maybe drag & drop features or just put the drop downs on a big size picture of the actual remote model. The window size is too small & it's annoying having to scroll side to side to see it all. Let it open up & expand to fill the screen like any other software. Get up to speed on the windows platform. The Maximize should do just that.
  4. Features should be easier to adjust overall in the actual activities. Do away with the radio buttons & next & done. Too time consuming.Put the features in the same menu with some better interface to turn on & off or adjust things.
To be continued...Add you own & lets get Logitechs attention. Make our home theater install jobs easier, please.

Welcome to the forum.

The forums are for users to exchange experiences and ideas with each other.

They are not the preferred option for communicating with Logitech.

That can be done simply, by using the e-mail forms at the end of the general Troubleshoot and in the Tip Center - or as listener wrote, while I was laboriously typing.:smileyhappy:

There can be few users who do not have criticisms of the software, and many of us regularly do pass those on to Logitech.

However its purpose is for setting up simple devices that control simple audio and video devices, not for controlling the flight deck of an airliner or a nuclear power plant, so we really don't expect it do much more than ask us a few questions and accept our answers.

As one who uses it more than most I do find the timeouts annoying, as you do, but they do not happen after 10 minutes, and when they do happen nothing is normally lost.

Again the format, layout, and limited size, are all disadvantages, but far from major ones.

Many ordinary users, who may use it once and rarely again, have told us how easy the structure makes it for them to perform the basic operations of setting up their devices.

Of course to us experts (!) the combination of radio buttons on one side with additional next buttons at the other looks like ancient technology and is tiresome to work with, but to them it is a way of being guided to make the right settings as quickly as possible.

Perhaps there should be an alternative version, for the experts, including "home theater installers" - but I think I would still stay with the current version, along with the amateurs.
