Motorola DCT-6200 cable box not recogized as able to change channels

I installed software for Harmony 620 on Vista PC for a friend.  Device setup included a Motorola DCT-6200 digital Cable box (which is the example in setup screen, coincidentally). Once setup, I tried to add an activity to watch TV. However, the setup screen reports that there is no device for changing channels. I want to use the DCT-6200 to change channels but the TV should have shown up as a choice yet neither is recognised as a capable of changing channels.. I already had a 620 working on my own PC which is Windows XP.  When I added the DCT-6200 on this PC to test out what might be wrong on the friend's PC, I got a choice to use the DCT to change channels along with the TV and other devices. Any suggestions for getting this other PC working properly with this software

Hi and welcome.

There's an odd thing about cable "boxes" that involves actually telling the Harmony they're called something else, such as C able. A search should find some more details.

I have tried both cable box and digital set top box.  The later brings up the example DCT-6200 on both the Vista PC and XP PC.

No, this something to do with the name within the Devices area, not the set-up

WannabeActuary knows more about it than I do.

No HH, Wannabe was refering to renaming inputs

correct...the naming of inputs as tuner or cable prompts the wizard to also ask what channel the device needs to be on...that's a separate issue.

I would 1. make sure the device number is correct, and that the 2. when setting up the activity, select 'manual' at the first choice, then watch tv, then the correct type...that should sort the issue out for you, if not, let us know
