PS3: Can I map Instant Advance to a button?

Hi all,

Anyone have any idea how to map the Instant Advance and Instant Replay actions to individual buttons? These are the ones that jump forward/backward 15 seconds for each press. Of all the video movement options they really are the most useful, but they only seem to be available from the control panel. That I can't even do it with the PS3 controller suggests that it's not possible, but I'm hoping that there are some secret codes that someone may have discovered. I'm using the Harmony Adapter.

Cheers!

Re: PS3: Can I map Instant Advance to a button?

Hey HeyCoach,

Unfortunately the answer would be no.  Not unless Sony itself sets up the use of those commands within the Playstation 3 it wouldn't work.  Outside of the Playstation, there are times that the Harmony code database has IR commands that don't appear on the original remotes, but give that added functionality.  These added commands actually aren't ours, but were implemented by the manufacturers during development.

Since the Bluetooth commands themselves are just instructions to the OS of the PS3, I would assume a firmware or OS update could potentially added new commands.  However, this is solely up to Sony so I would suggest contacting them or their forums for the enhancement request.

Re: PS3: Can I map Instant Advance to a button?

I gather the same is true for the "A-B Repeat" command(s), right? That and the Instant Replay/Advance commands are accessible in the PS3's Options pop-up group of commands, but they're the only ones in that group that aren't available on the Harmony.  Just to be clear, that's a PS3 issue, right?  Thanks.
